PoE 2 Olroth Origin of the Fall Guide

Olroth, Origin of the Fall is a pinnacle boss of the Expedition mechanic in Path of Exile 2, this endgame boss is usually available in level 79 to 82 and is able to deal physical and cold damage.

Olroth Location & How to Find

Olroth can be found inside a tomb. You are required to have completed Expedition Logbooks of level 79 or above to fight him. These Logbooks are available from World Encounters or can be found on the trading site of PoE 2. With the right logbook, speak with Dannig, who will use the logbook to unlock a map that contains a portal to Olroth’s tomb.

1. Make sure to activate your Expedition Logbook on your map of choice. Make sure your character possesses the right equipment and consumables for this battle.

2. While you are entering the Logbook, pay attention to the mini-map. Search for a skull icon; it will show if the boss spawns. If you are having issues spotting the skull on the mini-map, use the overlay map for a better angle of the spot that may contain Olroth.

3. Determining Olroth's position first is very important. Now, strategize a bomb chain leading directly to him. When your bombs have been placed, trigger them in a rapid sequence. This method will eliminate obstacles between you and Olroth as well as decrease the number of monsters you have to face. Ensure that you do not face any lag or erratic monster movements.

4. After the bombs have detonated, your location should be at a spot behind an object or wall near Olroth's entrance. It is best to wait until the area is clear before engaging, so you can safely withstand his attacks.

5. The moment the entrance gets unblocked, be the first one to jump in and engage in a fight. Utilizing your preferred strategies, maneuver throughout the combat while battling and concentrating mostly on not getting hit by the surroundings.

6. Always be aware of the chilled ground and frost effects; work to mitigate damage from movement. Focus on staying active and agile so you do not get trapped in sections that will hurt you.

7. Make sure to look around the arena so you do not take avoidable damage during the fight. You might want to make use of your abilities or consumables that heal you during the fight if you are taking continuous damage.

Olroth Spawn Rate

The spawn rate of Olroth, Origin of the Fall in area levels 77-80 and Difficulty 4  is approximately 150/760 Logbooks, which is roughly 19.74%. Some players report that the chance of encountering Olroth in 79+ Logbooks is approximately 15-25%. One more thing is note is that after the Patch 0.2.0f, all Pinnacle bosses now have unlimited respawn attempts at Difficulty 0.

Olroth Combat Strategy

Olroth's combat can be divided into two phases. His cold damage melee attacks dominate the first phase. In the second phase, he increases his power, and an artifact circling the battlefield unleashes broad beams of ice, frosty tendrils engulfing expansive portions of the arena. Skills Olroth uses are Sword Slam, Sword Throw, Light Pillar, Charged Attack, Tracking Cold Beam, Cold Projectiles, and Center Arena Beam. Starting from difficulty 1, the boss arena includes three Runic Gateways at its edge, which spawn Unearthed Skeletal Warriors as additional combatants throughout the fight.

Phase 1

Evade his physical attacks and any area effects. Position yourself opposite the artifact to maximize the time given to you for avoidance. Use Dodge Rolls to escape from his skewering attacks, and evacuate from the ground chills left behind by Olroth and his artifact.

Phase 2

Olroth will revive after reaching a health threshold with roughly three million life. At this stage, the artifact emits wider beams of ice, and Olroth yells "Starfire!" before the attack initiates. Players need to move away from the artifact. To avoid Orbital Rune Laser strike, Dodge Roll away from the center through the beams before they converge tightly; otherwise, you’ll take massive cold damage over time.
