  • ACNH cross rivers using the vaulting pole: To begin with, you can only explore a small section of the island, which is blocked off by a river. To go further, you need a Vaulting Pole - a temporary solution until you can get a Bridge. You will be able to head over to the water and select the vaulting pole from your menu, hold it and then walk towards the water. Press A to use the vaulting pole and you are over. This is essential especially for Mystery Island Tours where there are areas that require a pole to get there.

  • Build a bridge: You will be required to build a log bridge in Animal Crossing to progress the story. It will easily allow you and the villagers to cross rivers.   • Fill in the river with land: Once unlocking the Island Designer, you will be able to terraform land and water. With this feature, you can easily fill in the river with land for easy access. It also has no cost compared to bridges, and you can get it in an instant instead of waiting for a day.

Once you've got Resident Services up and running you can come in to see Tom Nook and start to donate him fish or bugs that you have caught, so as soon as you start catching things you can come and talk to Tom Nook. And he'll go through the process of giving you rewards once you've got five of these. He will eventually get a call from Blathers who is the museum curator who has been accepting all of these donations and he decides having seen such great donations that he's going to move over to the island and he's going to bring his whole museum stick with him, and then as a process is how you're going to get the vaulting pole in Animal Crossing New Horizons. So after the call you'll then need to place down the location for the museum, but you'll need to wait a day for it to be under construction.
