The drop rate of unique items will be affected by many factors in Diablo 2 Resurrected, with the new charms added to the game, farming becomes more uncertain. In this article, we are going to focus on the Fire (Flame Rift) Sunder Charm in D2R 2.5 Ladder, how does it work, and how to get it fast?

How Does Fire Sunder Charm Work in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

The fire sunder charm refers to the Flame Rift grand charm, which was added in Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.5 Patch and available since Ladder Season 2. It is a type of D2R unique charm that has a level requirement of 75, it will take the monster's resistance and sunder it, and the monster's immunity will be brought down to 95%, it also gives you a penalty for using this charm on your character of negative 70 to 90 fire resistance.

Tips for D2R Ladder Season 2 Builds with Fire Sunder Charm

If you are a fire damage character, you will often find that 95 is still hard to kill, what can you do to counter the wealth of negative resistance is use it with some other Diablo 2 items in combination. Any item that obtains the effect of negative enemy resistance has never worked on a monster that was immune to an effect, so if a monster is immune to fire, the -20 enemy fire resistance on the Ravenlore (Sky Spirit) does not work on that monster. What the charm is allowing you to do is it's allowing you to be able to use an item to further decrease the monster's fire resistance and in turn increase your damage as a result. There is a handful of D2 Ladder items that have a negative enemy fire resistance:

Ravenlore (Sky Spirit)

Flickering Flame

Mang Song’s Lesson (Archon Staff)

Obedience (Mancatcher)

Phoenix (Monarch)

Tal Rasha’s Lidless Eye

Rainbow Facet (Jewel)

If you are going to use the fire sunder charm in your build, the Flickering Flame helmet is probably what you are going to utilize with this particular charm. If you need weapons, the Obedience does have a massive negative 25 enemy fire resistance and is going to come in pretty handy for a myriad of melee fire characters like a fire claw Druid. Because Fire Claw Druids have a relatively high amount of fire damage and if they were using the fire sunder charm in combination with Obedience, it would definitely make them far better off than they were. Any build that could potentially shoot fire damage that needs the ability to break fire immunities would get a good effect from this particular item.

Where to Find Flame Rift Grand Charm in D2R - How Rare is Fire Sunder Charm in D2R

The farming locations of all sundering charms indicated in D2R 2.5 Patch Notes are monsters of Champion, Unique, Superunique, and Boss difficulty from Terror Zones, the Flame Rift grand charm is Ladder only, so you can find it in Non-Ladder play. In addition, it requires a level of 75 to drop, so you can’t farm it from terror zones in Normal/Nightmare difficulty.

When it comes to the rarity of the fire sunder charm, any specific sunder charm is six times as rare as Gheed's, but it is only from elites and bosses in Ladder TZ. Maxroll drop calculator shows they each have a 1:6 chance of dropping for all terrorized act bosses. However, there is no actual drop rate of sunder charms in D2R Ladder 2 currently, but in order to grind more Flame Rift sunder charms, you should go to the terror zones that have more elite packs and good act bosses in terms of dropping unique charms, good bosses to farm sunder charms are Andariel and Duriel. And the magic find will also affect the number of unique items you find no matter where you farm.
