This article covers everything you need to know about D4 Dawnfire, including its basic stats, affixes, drop locations, farming steps, and the best Paladin builds to use it.

Diablo 4 Dawnfire Drop Locations & Best Paladin Build

Dawnfire is an Ancestral Unique glove exclusive to the Paladin class in Diablo 4, requiring level 78 to equip and boasting 800 Item Power and 754 Armor. It reworks the Paladin’s Holy Light Aura passive, changing it to deal constant fire damage around you and adding a stacking damage bonus each time an enemy dies within the aura’s range.

D4 Dawnfire Stats, Effects and Affixes

Item Power: 800. This value determines the overall baseline strength of the glove and its compatibility with high-tier endgame content.

  • Armor: 754. This stat provides direct damage reduction against physical attacks when the gloves are equipped.

  • +[2 - 3] to Righteousness: Boosts the rank of the Righteousness skill, enhancing its related effects for your Paladin.

  • +[26.0 - 35.0]% Chance for Holy Light Aura to Deal Double Damage: Grants a random chance for your Holy Light Aura to hit twice, doubling its output on successful proc.

  • +[88 - 102] Strength: Increases your Strength attribute, which raises your overall damage and armor for the Paladin class.

  • +[489 - 526] Maximum Life: Adds a flat amount to your total health pool, improving your survivability in combat.

  • Unique Passive Effect: Holy Light's passive now deals [225 - 450] Fire Damage every second around you. Each time an enemy dies within this aura, its damage increases by 50% for 15 seconds, up to 10 times. This effect replaces the original Holy Light passive, turning it into a scalable area-of-effect damage tool.

Where to Get Diablo 4 Dawnfire (Drop Bosses and Locations)

Based on player feedback, there are multiple places to farm this unique item in the game now.

  • Varshan: Spawned in the Malignant Burrow, located in northern Hawezar next to the Tree of Whispers. This location is considered one of the easiest spots to farm Dawnfire, especially on Torment 1 difficulty or higher.

  • Grigoire: Found in the Hall of the Penitent, located in the Dry Steppes region. You can challenge this boss in both non-seasonal and seasonal realms.

  • Lord Zir: A high-tier endgame boss that drops Dawnfire consistently for many players. Multiple runs on Torment 2 difficulty have resulted in back-to-back drops for some users.

  • Urivar: A lesser-known boss that has been confirmed to drop Dawnfire by players.

  • Andariel: You can obtain Dawnfire from the chest rewarded after defeating Azmodan, the permanent world boss, followed by opening Andariel’s Chest.

How to Get Dawnfire in Diablo 4 Season 11?

1. Reach the Required Level and Difficulty

First, level your Paladin to at least level 78, as this is the minimum level requirement to equip Dawnfire. Then, unlock Torment 1 difficulty or higher by completing the game’s main campaign and reaching World Tier 4. Higher Torment levels raise the drop chance of Unique items like Dawnfire, and all confirmed Dawnfire-dropping bosses are available across all Torment difficulties.

2. Gather Lair Keys for Post-Fight Loot (No Summoning Materials Needed)

Focus on farming bosses with confirmed Dawnfire drops, such as Varshan, Grigoire, Lord Zir, Urivar, and Andariel. None of these bosses require summoning materials—instead, collect Lair Keys to open their hoard chests after defeat. For Lord Zir, gather 12 Exquisite Blood from open-world content like Helltides, World Bosses, or Nightmare Dungeons. For Urivar, collect 12 Judicator's Mask from the same open-world activities. For Andariel, obtain 3 Pincushioned Doll (dropped by Initiate Lair Bosses like Beast in Ice and Lord Zir). For Varshan, collect summoning hearts by clearing Malignant Tunnels and Helltide events in Hawezar. For Grigoire, gather required offerings through Dry Steppes quests and bounties.

3. Travel to Specific Boss Locations and Master Fight Mechanics

Head to your chosen boss’s exact lair entrance. For Varshan, go to the Malignant Burrow in northern Hawezar, next to the Tree of Whispers. For Lord Zir, enter The Darkened Way in Fractured Peaks, just east of Kyovashad. For Urivar, visit Fields of Judgement in Nahantu’s Teganze Plateau subzone, near the Kichuk Waypoint and Stronghold. For Andariel, access Hanged Man's Hall in eastern Kehjistan, right next to the Tarsarak waypoint. For Grigoire, go to the Hall of the Penitent in Dry Steppes. During fights with Lord Zir and Urivar, note their invulnerability phase rules: no invulnerability for the first 10 seconds, and shields appear at 2/3 and 1/3 health (lasting 5 seconds). Break Zir’s shields (1/3 max life at 2/3 health, 2/3 max life at 1/3 health) or Urivar’s identical shields within the window to avoid invulnerability. Defeat the boss, check for Dawnfire in drops, and repeat—Unique drop rates are not guaranteed.

4. Switch Bosses if You Hit a Dry Spell

If you run a single boss 10 or more times without getting Dawnfire, switch to another confirmed source. For example, if Grigoire and Zir runs yield no results, try Urivar’s Fields of Judgement or Andariel’s Hanged Man's Hall. You can also check Andariel’s Chest after defeating Azmodan (Season 11’s new World Boss) for a chance to get Dawnfire. Additionally, a small chance exists for “Mini Belial” to spawn after defeating Lord Zir, Urivar, or Andariel—defeat it for Betrayer's Husk, and some players reported Dawnfire drops from Belial ambushes during these encounters.

5. Check Both Seasonal and Non-Seasonal Realms

If you cannot find Dawnfire in one realm, switch to the other. While some players initially thought it was seasonal-only, confirmed drops exist in both seasonal and non-seasonal (Eternal) realms. Make sure to check your inventory and stash after each run to avoid missing the item, and continue farming across different bosses and realms until you obtain the gloves.

  • Cast Consecration on bosses or dense enemy packs for extra damage and healing.

  • Move between enemy groups with Falling Star to keep Dawnfire’s aura active on as many targets as possible.

Paragon & Glyphs

  • Glyph Leveling Priorities: Level Spirit, Challenger, Resplendence, Arbiter, and Canny to level 15 first, then raise Spirit, Resplendence, Canny, Challenger, and Arbiter to level 46 for expanded radius and effects.

Consumables & Seasonal Tips

  • Recommended Consumables: Soothing Spices, Reddamine Buzz, Spiral Morning, and Elixir of Fortitude II.

  • Sanctification: Sanctify your gear at Hadriel's Forge for a chance to add powerful Affixes or Aspects (Utmost Glory, Inner Calm, Elemental Fate, Bulwark's, Holy Punishment are top choices). Avoid sanctifying your core equipped items unless you have backups.

  • Divine Gifts: Unlock Corrupted Essences by defeating Lesser Evils (Andariel, Duriel, Azmodan, Belial) to boost rewards in Undercity, Helltide, World Bosses, and The Pit. Slot both Corrupted and Purified Essences for maximum gains.
