Aion 2 Pet Tier List - Best Pets & Genus Insight Stats in AION 2 Global

Pets in AION 2 Global are far more than cute companions trotting beside your character. They form one of the biggest sources of permanent character power in the game, and the system ties directly into another progression layer called Genus Insight. With advanced access launching September 30th and the full global release on October 5th, players who learn the pet system early will have a strong edge over those who treat it like a side activity. AION 2 Pets & Genus Insight system explained here! In this AION 2 guide, we'll explain what Pets are, how the Pet system works, the best Pets and Genus Insight stats for your build, and how to farm and level your pets in AION 2 Global.

AION 2 Pet Tier List - Best Pets & Genus Insight Stats

Aion 2 Pet Tier List - Best Pets & Genus Insight Stats in AION 2 Global

Pets in AION 2 do not operate the same way they did in AION 1. Every monster type in the world has a pet version, and killing that monster gives you its pet soul. Collecting enough souls levels up that pet, and once it reaches the required rank, you permanently gain stats from it. On global, the pet level cap is three, while in Korea it is five. The stat totals, however, are the same at level three on global as they are at level five in Korea, so you are not losing any character power.

There are four normal pet groups plus one special category:

  • Cogwheel (Cogni) gives HP, critical hit, and might.

  • Feral (Ferah) gives mount movement speed, accuracy, and dexterity.

  • Natura gives stamina, critical hit resist, and precision.

  • Variant (Varien) gives mount stamina, evasion, and constitution.

  • Special uses rainbow soul crystals rather than regular farming.

Each group also gives you additional damage against monsters of that genus, which creates a nice compounding effect as you farm.

Now that you know the categories, let's look at what pets actually do for your character.

What Can Pets Do in AION 2 Global?

Pets provide a mix of combat utility and movement features, and knowing what each level unlocks helps you plan your grind.

  • Permanent Stat Bonuses

Every pet in your collection grants an "owned effect" based on its level. You do not have to summon the pet or ride it to receive the bonus; simply owning the pet in your list is enough. Each level adds more stats, including attack, defense, HP, accuracy, evasion, and movement speed. These stats are permanent and server-wide, which means your alts benefit from your main's progress automatically.

  • Mounts, Gliders, and Transforms

At level 1 (five souls collected), you get the base mount version. At level 2 (25 total souls), you earn a mount glider. At level 3 (75 more souls, 105 total), the pet gains a transform ability. You can press C to ride your pet, and auto-run will automatically mount you.

  • Genus Insight Fuel

Once a pet hits max level, additional souls you collect from that monster are converted into genus soul crystals. These crystals feed directly into the Genus Insight system, which is where the real stat chasing happens.

AION 2 Pet Tier List (Ranked from Best to Worst)

Pets in AION 2 Global are not just cosmetic companions. Each one contributes permanent stats to your character through its owned effect, and the family it belongs to feeds directly into your Genus Insight power. Below is a ranking of the pet genera and specific picks from strongest to weakest for most players on the global version.

1. Cogni (Top Tier)

Cogni is the best pet genus in AION 2 for damage output. At insight level 3, it gives 30 HP, two critical hit, and one might, with might raising attack directly. You do not need one specific named pet to earn this bonus; any Cogni pet contributes to the family total.

  • Best Elyos pick: Claw, which is one of the earliest Cogni pets available.

  • Best Asmodian pick: Decomposed Lupalini, which drops from low-level enemies in Aul Gard.

  • Other strong Cogni options: Composed Lupellini and Herbalists, both of which cluster together for easy farming.

2. Natura (High Tier)

Natura is the next priority genus if you want precision and critical hit resist. It is particularly strong for hybrid builds and players who want balanced offensive and defensive output. Natura pets pair well with Cogni because their effects stack to produce a well-rounded combat profile.

3. Feral (Mid-High Tier)

Feral is the movement line, offering mount ground speed and accuracy bonuses. The accuracy portion is extremely valuable in PvP, where missing attacks is a common issue. Feral pets also tend to cluster together in the open world, which makes group farming efficient. Young Kalends and regular Kalends can be farmed in the same spot, saving travel time.

4. Variant (Mid Tier)

Variant covers the defensive line with constitution and evasion. It also adds mount stamina, which is helpful for long travel runs. Variant is a solid choice for tanks and classes that benefit from staying alive longer, but it ranks lower than Cogni and Natura for pure DPS builds.

5. Special (Situational Top Tier)

Special pets like Pagati, Black Dragon, and the Luji variants do not drop from regular monsters. They come from shops, battle passes, chests, and events, and they level only through rainbow soul crystals used in Genus Insight analysis. The Special board itself is one of the strongest in the game because it holds unique analysis effects like double chance, so even though special pets are hard to collect, maxing this board is worth the investment.

Free Starter Picks

The opening pet selection chest offers a few free options:

  • Pappus gives mount speed.

  • Silver Blade Rotan reduces sprint cost slightly.

  • Kanuden Worker or Black Smoke Mirrit gives three stamina (pick one of these).

After the All Geared Up quest, Kaidro offers Fossa, Armadon, or Tog. Fossa is the pick because it doubles as a ground mount. Owned effects still count when the pet is not summoned, so your overall collection matters far more than the single pet you have active.

Shop-Only and Ascension Trial Pets

Some pets are only obtainable through the Black Cloud Merchant, pet soul chests, or Ascension Trial rewards. Check the Black Cloud Merchant pet tab every hour, and run Ascension Trials weekly for guaranteed pet chests. Every pet you add contributes 500 points toward its genus family, so even shop-only pets have a direct impact on your character power.

AION 2 Best Genus Insight Stats

Genus Insight has nine stat slots per family, and the rolls you land matter more than any single pet you own. Below is a ranking of the strongest stats you should chase, from top priority to filler.

S Tier (Must-Have Rolls)

1. Double Chance (Smite) – Special Genus Slot 4 Only
On global, double chance only rolls in one spot: Slot 4 of the Special Genus. This is the single most important stat for DPS classes, so if you want it, this is the only place to find it. Spend rainbow crystals here first.

2. Max Attack / Front Attack – Slots 1 and 5
These flat offensive rolls scale directly with your damage output and should be the priority on both standard genus and Special for DPS builds.

3. Front Attack Critical Hit – Slots 3, 6, and 9
These are the special offensive effects that give the biggest raw damage multipliers in the game. Hitting Heroic rolls here is one of the main reasons to push each genus to insight level 10.

A Tier (High Value)

4. Accuracy Bonus – Slot 4 (Standard Genus)
Essential for PvP and for landing hits on higher-level content. On the standard genus boards, accuracy competes with critical hit for the Slot 4 pick.

5. Critical Hit – Slot 4 (Standard Genus Alternative)
A direct damage upgrade for crit-based builds. Choose between accuracy and crit based on your class needs.

6. Evasion – Standard Slots
Extremely valuable for PvP survival. Pair it with accuracy for a balanced offensive-defensive PvP setup.

7. Damage Tolerance – Slot 7
A strong defensive pick that reduces incoming damage. On Special, you can combine front attack damage tolerance in Slot 7 for a hybrid roll.

B Tier (Solid Secondary Stats)

8. Front Defense – Slots 2 and 8
Provides reliable damage reduction and pairs well with front attack rolls in nearby slots.

9. Penetration (Cogni Exclusive on Global)
A new addition to the global Cogni pool. Useful for cutting through enemy defense, especially in late-game PvE.

10. PvE Accuracy and Power Shard Damage Bonus (Cogni Only)
These are new global additions. PvE accuracy is strong for raid content, and power shard damage bonus adds a small but consistent damage boost.

11. HP and Attack Bonus
Both now show up more often on global and provide steady scaling benefits for any build.

C Tier (Filler, But Still Usable)

12. Critical Hit Resist
Good for PvP defense but less impactful in PvE. On global, Heroic rolls are 66% less likely to appear than in Korea.

13. Boss Attack
Useful for raid content, though Heroic rolls dropped by about 59% on global.

14. Block Rate and Status Effect Chance/Resist
Niche picks that work for specific class builds like tanks or crowd-control-focused classes.

F Tier (Removed on Global)

These stats cannot be rolled anywhere on the global version, so do not plan around them:

  • Perfect Chance (removed from Cogni and Special)

  • Weapon Damage Boost (removed from Cogni and Special)

  • PvE Damage Boost (removed from Special)

  • Double Chance anywhere outside Special Slot 4

Rolling Strategy

Push each genus to insight level 9 before locking anything. Heroic rolls become available at level 9, and locking stats earlier just drains your crystals and Kinah. Once you hit level 9 or 10, lock the S-tier stats first (max attack, front attack critical hit, double chance on Special Slot 4), then work on A-tier picks for the remaining slots. Use the three preset slots to maintain separate PvP, PvE, and solo builds without rerolling everything each time.

How To Farm Pets in AION 2 Global?

There are four reliable ways to collect pet souls, and smart players combine all of them for efficiency.

  • Open World Farming

Every monster you kill has a chance to drop a soul on the ground. Press F to loot, or get the auto-loot voucher from the Wind Merchant (500,000 Kinah for 30 days) if you want hands-off pickup. You need five souls for level 1, 25 for level 2, and 75 for level 3, so you will kill each monster roughly 105 times.

  • Hidden Cubes in the Open World

Cubes are red glowing objects that make a distinctive bell-like sound. They drop soul bundles (five souls at a time) along with soul crystals, cosmetics, and even wings. To find them easily, go to your audio settings and mute everything except sound effects and master volume. The cube sound travels much farther than you would expect. On global, cubes opened with a key give a guaranteed 1,000 soul crystals, which is a global exclusive.

  • Black Cloud Merchant

The Black Cloud Merchant refreshes its pet tab every hour and sells pet souls that may be hard to find otherwise, including shop-only pets. If you have alts, each alt has its own refreshing shop, so check all of them for the pets you need.

  • Spacetime Rift (Enemy Faction Side)

Many pets only spawn on the opposite faction's side of the map. Use the space-time rift to cross over, and switch to PvE mode if you want to avoid PvP. You get one hour on the other side, so stack rift trips with sealed dungeons, strongholds, and green quests to make the trip worthwhile.

  • Dungeon Elite Monsters

Some pets never spawn in the open world. Their souls only drop from elite monsters inside dungeons. When running expeditions, clear both mid bosses before heading to the final boss so you do not miss these elites.

  • Ascension Trials

Running Ascension Trials weekly rewards you with pet soul chests. The entry requirement is 1,000 combat power for the easy version, and the trials are short, chill clears that give consistent pet rewards.

Farming is only half of the equation. The other half is pushing those pets to their max level efficiently.

How To Max Out Pet Levels in AION 2?

Maxing pets is a steady grind rather than a hard challenge, but a few strategies will save you massive amounts of time.

  • Run the Pet Daily Dungeon

The pet daily dungeon rewards large numbers of soul chests. Because pet progression is server-wide, running the dungeon on alts multiplies your soul income without extra effort. If you plan to run alt characters for conquest Kinah anyway, this fits in naturally.

  • Supplement with Open World Farming

While you wait for daily resets, farm pet monsters in zones you are already clearing for duty missions, command scrolls, and sealed dungeons. You get souls passively just by doing content you were going to run anyway.

  • Use Alts for the Collection

Since Genus Insight is server-wide, every alt character inherits the stats you roll on your main. This also means alts can farm souls that count toward your shared progress. The April 2026 update reduced the XP required for pet levels, so the grind is lighter than it used to be.

  • Max Out Pets Before Rolling Hard

Once a pet is maxed, extra souls convert into genus crystals, which are what you actually need for Genus Insight rolls. Push your pets to level 3 first, then use the overflow crystals to level your genus boards to 10 before locking any stats.

  • Save Rainbow Crystals for Special

Rainbow soul crystals can be used on any board, but regular crystals cannot be farmed for the special category. Spend rainbow crystals only on the special board until it is maxed, and use colored crystals for the other four.

  • Hunt Cubes for Bonus Crystals

Since hidden cubes guarantee 1,000 soul crystals per key opened on global, you want to keep your key stockpile active. Use the interactivemap.app site to find cube spawn locations, and listen for their bell sound in-game.

  • Don't Lock Bad Rolls Early

Every locked stat raises the cost of the next analysis. Push your genus insight to level 9 or 10 first, then start chasing Heroic rolls. Locking early wastes crystals that would be better spent on insight XP.

Pets in AION 2 are one of the biggest permanent power sources in the game, and the Genus Insight system layered on top makes them worth farming long after you hit end game. Start with Cogni, run your dailies on alts, save rainbow crystals for special, and avoid locking rolls until you reach level 9. Follow those rules and your pet progression will quietly become one of the strongest contributors to your character power.
