Elden Ring Nightreign DLC

Updated (December 4, 2025):

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Release Date

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have officially announced the release of Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC, launching globally on December 3-4, 2025, depending on your time zone and platform. Unlike previous speculations placing the DLC release in early 2026, the new expansion arrives at the end of 2025, bringing fresh content to the multiplayer survival game.

The Forsaken Hollows DLC introduces two new Nightfarers — Scholar and Undertaker — a new Shifting Earth location called The Great Hollows, and a host of new and returning bosses, including the formidable Balancers. The DLC is priced at $15 and is also included in the Deluxe Edition of Elden Ring Nightreign.

Unlike the original Elden Ring, Nightreign is a standalone title focused on multiplayer and live-service elements, designed to receive ongoing updates with additional Nightlords (bosses), Nightfarers (playable classes), and other features beyond this initial DLC launch.

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC New Bosses (Nightlords)

One of the most anticipated aspects of the DLC is the addition of two new Nightlords. These bosses will bring fresh challenges and deepen the game’s narrative layers.

Among the rumored Nightlords, a revamped version of Midir, the dragon boss originally from Dark Souls 3, has attracted the most attention. This iteration is said to bear a name that translates roughly to “Cataclysm,” pointing to a new take on the character rather than a direct copy. Reports suggest this Nightlord will have distinct looks and abilities compared to its predecessor.

The second Nightlord remains largely unidentified, though leaks mention a potential connection to a figure named “Perfect Night Heolstor,” which is likely a placeholder. These bosses are expected to offer unique fighting styles and mechanics, adding variety and depth to upcoming encounters.

Nightreign has already incorporated bosses from previous FromSoftware titles, such as the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3. This inclusion raises hopes that more iconic bosses could appear in future updates or expansions. Popular fan choices for potential additions include:

  • Abyss Watchers (Dark Souls 3), known for their swift, multi-enemy battle, which could fit well with multiplayer gameplay.

  • The Pursuer (Dark Souls 2), a boss recognized for multiple invasion appearances, serving as an unpredictable threat.

  • Belfry Gargoyles (various Dark Souls games), famous for their challenging multi-enemy rooftop fight.

Other favorites like Lady Maria, Shadow of Yharnam, and Ornstein & Smough also frequently come up in discussions. While none of these figures have been officially confirmed for the Nightreign DLC, their inclusion would likely excite many fans and broaden the roster of formidable opponents.

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC New Nightfarers/Classes

Alongside new Nightlords, the DLC will introduce new Nightfarers, Undertaker and Scholar.

Scholar is a support character who excels in studying enemies. By analyzing foes, the Scholar can link them so that damage is shared across the group, which also allows healing of linked allies. This makes the Scholar great at controlling fights and helping the team stay healthy.

Undertaker is a powerful damage dealer focused on strength and faith. She uses a heavy hammer and has a skill that enhances her attacks when bloodletting occurs. Her ultimate attack, the Loathsome Hex, lets her strike enemies quickly and can be used multiple times under certain conditions.

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC New Maps and Areas

Leaked information has pointed to a large new map roughly equal in size to Limgrave, featuring a dynamic environmental element called the “Shifting Earth.” This new region seems to draw inspiration from Leyndell, the grand capital city from the base game, but with altered and evolving terrain.

This feature could introduce new environmental hazards and gameplay conditions that change over time, forcing players to adapt their strategies as they explore the area. Although this is not a completely new open world on the scale of the original game, the map and shifting terrain are expected to offer fresh exploration opportunities and challenges.

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC New Skins, Relics, and Gameplay Improvements

Besides bosses and maps, the DLC will bring new relics and items to the game. A notable improvement includes a new way to collect sovereign sigils without solely relying on defeating the tough Everdark variants, making these upgrades more accessible.

Skins will play an important role in character customization. Every Nightfarer will receive at least one new skin upon completing the DLC, specifically after overcoming the last Nightlord. Fans hope multiple skin options will be introduced per class, allowing players to tailor their characters’ appearances further.

Elden Ring Nightreign has been subjected to network tests aimed at evaluating its online systems and multiplayer functionality. Despite some connectivity issues, players generally responded positively to the experience, suggesting the game’s online foundation is solid. The survival royale nature of Nightreign offers a distinct take on the Elden Ring universe, emphasizing cooperative play and competitive encounters. The DLC's new bosses, classes, and maps will likely increase the variety and intensity of multiplayer sessions.
