Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) 3.0 update brought a exciting new feature: a free resort hotel on your island! Run by Kapp'n and his adorable family—Leilani, Leila, and Grams—this hotel lets you decorate rooms, host visitors, and add more life to your island. Whether you love decorating or just want to meet new villagers, this guide will break down the ACNH 3.0 Hotel layout, rooms, and the decorating/design ideas for different hotel room themes.

ACNH 3.0 Resort Hotel Layout, Floors, Room Themes & Decorating Ideas

The ACNH 3.0 Hotel is a new facility located right off your island’s pier. It’s a free addition for all players who update their game to version 3.0. Think of it as a cozy resort where villagers (and even special guests!) can stay during their visit to your island. As the island representative, your main job is to decorate the hotel rooms to attract visitors. It’s similar to Happy Home Paradise, but with a fun hotel twist—you get to create unique spaces for different guests while making your island feel more lively.

How Does the ACNH 3.0 Resort Hotel Work?

Using the hotel is easy, but there are a few key mechanics to understand:

1. Getting Started with the Hotel

First, you’ll need to unlock the hotel after updating to 3.0 (Nintendo hasn’t shared the exact unlock steps yet, but it’s likely a simple quest or conversation with Tom Nook or Kapp'n). Once unlocked, head to the pier to find the hotel. Inside, you’ll meet Leilani at the front desk—she’s your go-to for all hotel tasks.

2. The Hotel User Interface (UI)

When you talk to Leilani, you’ll see a special UI. This interface helps you:

  • Select which room to decorate (when you start, you’ll probably have a starter room to decorate as a tutorial).

  • View all the hotel rooms you’ve already designed (some players think this might turn into a new app, like the Happy Home Network, to show off your builds).

  • Check on current visitors (each room has one guest at a time).

From the trailer, the hotel has a warm, welcoming lobby with a front desk (where Leilani works) and space to set outfits for guests. The main area leads to the guest rooms. There are 8 starting rooms (each with a unique theme). Every room has space for furniture, wallpaper, flooring, and decor—you can customize almost everything. Some rooms (like the seaside theme) have doors that open to a small outdoor area, perfect for adding patio furniture or plants.

How Many Floors Are There?

Right now, it looks like the hotel has 1 floor with 8 rooms. But there’s a hint of more! In the hotel UI, there’s a small staircase icon in the top right corner. Many players think this means you can unlock more floors (and more rooms) as your hotel’s reputation grows. For example, if you decorate amazing rooms and get positive feedback from guests, you might unlock a second floor with even more themes to try.

The hotel can host up to 8 visitors at once—one per room. These visitors are villagers (like Raymond, Punchie, or Coco) and even NPCs (non-player characters) like Label!

  • They can wander around your island: You might see them exploring your beaches, parks, or talking to your permanent villagers. It’s fun to spot 2-3 hotel guests hanging out together!

  • They can borrow outfits: You can set clothes in the hotel lobby, and guests will wear them during their stay.

  • How long do they stay? Nintendo hasn’t confirmed, but players guess guests might stay 1-3 days. We’ll have to wait for the full update to know for sure!

To invite guests for your hotel,  scan any ACNH amiibo (villager or NPC) at the hotel. The guest will thank you for the invite and ask for a custom-decorated room.

ACNH 3.0 Hotel Room Themes & Design/Decorating Ideas

The hotel’s biggest fun comes from its 8 unique room themes. These themes are recommended to attract specific guests, and Nintendo supplies some basic furniture for each. You can also use items from your catalog to make the room even more special. Here are the 8 themes (note: official names will be revealed when the update launches):

1. Seaside Theme Room

The seaside theme boasts a calm, relaxing, and ocean-inspired vibe, making it perfect for villagers who love the beach, such as Punchie. Nintendo’s demo for this theme featured blue furniture, seashell decor, and a lovely view of the ocean.

2. Elegant Theme Room

The elegant theme exudes a fancy, luxurious, and sophisticated atmosphere, tailored for stylish villagers like Raymond, who was even shown in the trailer and fits this theme perfectly. Nintendo’s demo showcased elegant elements like black marble furniture, a fireplace, and elegant lighting.

Can You Remodel Rooms or Get New Themes?

Right now, Nintendo hasn’t said if we’ll get more than 8 themes. But based on Happy Home Paradise, it’s likely you can remodel rooms! When a guest leaves, you might be able to change the theme of their old room to a new one. Or, as your hotel grows, you could unlock 20+ themes (some players have heard rumors about this!). For now, focus on making the 8 starting themes as amazing as possible—you can always tweak them later.
