PoE 2 Act 5 Release Date, Bosses, Areas, Quests & Rewards

PoE 2 Guide 四月 09, 2026

Path of Exile 2 continues the dark, epic story of Wraeclast, where gods return, ancient empires collapse, and secret orders fight to control the fate of the world. Act 5 is one of the most important chapters in the early access timeline. It takes players to Oriath—the holy, cursed island that most people believed was abandoned 20 years before the events of PoE 2. In this article, we'll talk about the PoE 2 Act 5 release date, bosses, areas, quests and its rewards.

Path of Exile 2 Act 5 Release Date

GGG has not announced an exact release date for Path of Exile 2 Act 5, but the game’s established update pattern makes its arrival in Patch 0.5.0 highly possible. Since the early access launch on December 6, 2024, GGG has consistently paired major patches with core campaign progress:

  • Patch 0.1.0 (December 6, 2024) – Launched with the full first three acts of the campaign.

  • Patch 0.2.0 (April 4, 2025, "Dawn of the Hunt") – Focused on new class and endgame content, with no new act added.

  • Patch 0.3.0 (August 29, 2025, "The Third Edict") – Introduced Act 4 and three interludes, replacing the Cruel difficulty.

  • Patch 0.4.0 (December 12, 2025, "The Last of the Druids") – Added the Druid class and seasonal mechanics, with no new act included.

This pattern confirms that each major act debut has occurred in a separate patch, with alternating patches introducing new classes or systems. Following this rhythm, PoE 2 Act 5 is universally expected to launch in Patch 0.5.0, the next major content update.

GGG stated in February 2026 that full details for Patch 0.5.0—including its exact launch date—will be revealed in a dedicated announcement in late April 2026. Based on past release cycles, major patches typically launch approximately three weeks after their full reveal. If this timeline holds, PoE 2 0.5 is projected to release in early to mid-May 2026, most likely between May 7 and May 14.

Data miners have uncovered playable files for Act 5 areas, quests, and bosses in recent beta builds, further confirming that the content is complete and ready for deployment. While some community members debate whether 0.5.0 might prioritize an endgame overhaul over story content, GGG’s history of pairing major acts with system overhauls makes it almost certain that Act 5 will launch alongside the promised endgame changes.

Path of Exile 2 Act 5 Bosses

Act 5 has multiple major bosses, including mini-bosses and a confirmed final boss. All below come from online leaks, game files, and trailer footage.

1. Blighted Core (Primordial Blighted Core)

The Blighted Core is a colossal, living mass of corruption that serves as the primary source of the blight spreading across Oriath. Unlike story-driven bosses, it functions more as a powerful boss mob—an imposing, relentless enemy that players must overcome to halt the blight’s advance in key zones of the act. Its existence ties directly to the Twilight Order’s reckless experiments, making it a tangible threat to Oriath’s already fragile landscape.

2. Ursea, The Matron

As the first major boss players encounter in Act 5, Ursea, The Matron is a pivotal early challenge located in the Old Oriath zone. She appears soon after players set foot on the cursed island, acting as a gatekeeper to the deeper parts of Oriath. As a key foe in the transition zone between Act 4 and Act 5, her defeat marks a critical step in infiltrating the Twilight Order’s strongholds, making her a vital obstacle to overcome early in the act’s story.

3. Phanos, Last Disciple of Auria

Phanos, the Last Disciple of Auria, is a mini-boss found in the unnamed ruined zone of Old Oriath. A devout and unwavering follower of the ancient goddess Auria, he guards a critical path that leads deeper into Oriath’s core regions. His role as a sentinel means players must defeat him to progress further into the act, and his connection to Auria’s lost legacy adds a layer of lore depth to his challenging boss fight.

4. Essie and Paulius

Essie and Paulius form a unique pair boss encounter in Act 5, where players face both enemies simultaneously. Paulius is notably depicted capturing the player in official artwork, a key moment in the act’s story that highlights the Twilight Order’s ruthless tactics. The pair works directly under Orianna, the Countess, and their appearance in a story capture scene underscores their role as enforcers carrying out the Order’s orders, making their fight a tense, narrative-driven battle.

5. The High Priest

A high-ranking member of the Twilight Order, The High Priest is a religious enforcer for the secret group’s twisted ideology. He fights alongside Orianna, the Countess, in key battles, embodying the Order’s fanatical commitment to its cause. As a key ally to the act’s final boss, his presence in combat reinforces the Order’s hierarchical structure and the threat it poses to players journeying through Oriath.

6. The Preacher

The Preacher remains one of Act 5’s most mysterious bosses, with no official footage, dialogue, or additional lore details uncovered beyond his appearance in the official artbook. Based on his role within the Twilight Order’s ranks, he is likely a propaganda leader or a twisted priest who manipulates public perception to further the Order’s goals. His enigmatic status makes him a compelling mystery for players to uncover as they explore Oriath’s depths.

7. Orianna, The Countess – FINAL BOSS OF ACT 5

Orianna, the Countess is confirmed as the definitive final boss of Act 5, a status solidified by her having four full pages of exclusive artwork in the official artbook—a distinction reserved only for an act’s main final boss. She possesses a phase transformation ability, shifting between multiple forms during her boss fight, which adds complexity and challenge to the encounter. Identified as the Scion of Theopolis from Path of Exile 1, Orianna is a manipulative, intelligent, and power-hungry leader who oversees the Twilight Order’s surface operations. Her role as the face of the Order’s rebellion against divine tyranny makes her the central antagonist of Act 5, and her defeat marks a major turning point in the game’s overarching story.

About Lumerius

While many players speculate that Lumerius is the final boss of Act 5, all available evidence points to him being the final boss of Act 6 instead. He has minimal presence in Act 5’s artbook sections, and he is revealed to be the “Perfect Being” the Twilight Order seeks to create. Lumerius is destined to commune with the Beast during a blood moon or total lunar eclipse—a celestial event tied to PoE 2’s lore and logo symbolism. Players will likely face Lumerius in the climactic battle of Act 6, not Act 5, making him a key setup for the act’s massive plot twist.
