For the first time in Path of Exile 2, the league introduces a structured Challenge Reward system, similar to classic PoE1 leagues. In this guide, we’ll break down every Path of Exile 2 0.5 Runes of Aldur challenge, explain the fastest ways to complete them, analyze the difficulty of each objective, and cover all known rewards currently revealed for the league.
Path of Exile 2 0.5 Runes of Aldur Challenges & Rewards
There are 8 total league challenges. Every 2 completed challenges unlocks a cosmetic reward. Rewards are pieces of the Knight of Alder Armor Set. Completing all challenges also grants public challenge completion prestige and a special hideout totem decoration. The challenge UI is accessed by pressing H in-game.
1. Rune Seeker
Objective
Find remnants with increasing socket counts and complete remnant crafting encounters.
Higher-slot remnants are harder. The final 7-slot craft contains: 6 waves of enemies, endgame-level difficulty, significant mechanical challenge. Likely one of the more dangerous early-mid challenges.
2. The Hunter
Objective
Kill 6 optional campaign bosses.
Difficult Bosses Mentioned
• Aki the Final Sting
• Anund the Sandworm
Location
• Found in Kari Crossing
• Follow the dry riverbed to reach their hidden arena
This is an exploration-focused challenge designed to encourage full campaign exploration, secret boss hunting and zone familiarity. Some bosses are intentionally hidden and easy to miss.
3. The Ascendant
Objective
Obtain all 8 Ascendancy points.
Methods
Option 1 — Trial of the Sekhemas
Defeat Zerok on Floor 4.
Option 2 — Trial of Chaos
Defeat:
• The Trialmaster
• Requires collecting all 3 keys
| Path | Easier? | Faster? |
|---|---|---|
| Trial of Sekhemas | No | Yes |
| Trial of Chaos | Yes | No |
• Sekhemas = mechanically harder
• Chaos = grind-heavy but safer
This will likely become a major community discussion point during league launch.
4. The Reliquarian
Objective
Identify 50 unique items.
Extra Tip
The Atlas Master Jado has mechanics that improve unique item acquisition.
This is mostly a progression/economy challenge encourages mapping, encourages target farming. Easier for trade league players. SSF players may struggle more.
5. The Artisan
Objective
Use a wide variety of crafting PoE 2 items from remnant encounters.
This challenge teaches new crafting systems, remnant crafting mechanics and currency experimentation. Probably intended as a “league mechanic tutorial” challenge.
6. The Cartographer
Objective
Allocate the full Atlas tree, all 300 Atlas passive nodes.
Two Completion Methods
Traditional Method: Fully clear maps inside the Fortress
Faster Method
Kill Arbiter of Divinite. Each kill auto-completes large fortress sections. Need to find Citadels in the Atlas. Citadels have giant glowing beams in fog. After defeating Arbiter 4 times, entire Fortress becomes completed.
This is a massive endgame grind challenge. Likely one of the longest challenges in the league unless your build can reliably farm Arbiter. You efficiently hunt Citadels.
This heavily rewards:
• Atlas progression efficiency
• Bossing capability
• Map sustain
7. The Vanquisher
Objective
Kill 3 pinnacle bosses.
Required Bosses
• Tangazu
• The Bodark
• Vessel of Coolark
League Associations
| Boss | League |
|---|---|
| Tangazu | Delarium |
| The Bodark | Ritual |
| Vessel of Coolark | Abyss |
Special Requirement
For Vessel of Coolark, must fight him at FULL POWER. Requires returning the finger item before the fight. This is clearly the hardest challenge. It tests pinnacle boss mechanics, high-end gearing and league mechanic mastery. The Vessel of Coolark condition is especially dangerous because you intentionally empower the boss. You risk losing the encounter item. This is likely designed as the “prestige completion” challenge.
Rewards Breakdown
Knight of Alder Armor Set
Every 2 completed challenges grants a new armor cosmetic piece.
Possible structure:
• 2 Challenges → Gloves
• 4 Challenges → Boots
• 6 Challenges → Chest
• 8 Challenges → Helmet / Full Set Completion
(Exact piece order hasn’t been confirmed yet.)
Final Completion Rewards
Completing all challenges gives:
1. Public Challenge Prestige
Players can see your challenge count in global chat, on forums and possibly on profiles.
2. Hideout Totem Decoration
A permanent trophy showing you completed the league. This mirrors classic prestige systems from earlier PoE1 challenge leagues.
