1. Count Geonor – S Tier | Act 1, Ogham Manor

Count Geonor is widely regarded as the most overpowered potential tame beast in PoE 2 0.5. Fought in Act 1’s Ogham Manor, this boss transforms into a ferocious beast form during its encounter, boasting extremely fast attack animations, massive AoE coverage, and devastating single-target damage.


Its signature channeling ice spear ability deals extreme focused damage to single targets. Additionally, its sweeping AoE slams can clear entire packs of enemies in seconds. Unlike most early-game bosses, Count Geonor has no passive defensive behaviors and maintains constant offensive pressure. The only minor caveat is its partial human base form, leading to slight uncertainty about full ability translation to minion form, but its raw power secures its S Tier ranking regardless.


2. Silverfist – S Tier | Act 3, Jungle Ruins

Silverfist, commonly called Mighty Silverfist, is a fan-favorite Act 3 boss located in the Jungle Ruins and a definitive S Tier tame beast. This boss features chunky, impactful animations, fast movement speed, and high base damage on every attack. Its core strengths lie in consistent AoE slams and agile combat behavior that keeps it active in fights at all times.


While Silverfist occasionally uses random rolling dodges and playful movement animations that can slightly disrupt consistent damage output, its overall combat performance far outshines this minor flaw. It excels at both trash mob clearing and mid-tier boss damage, with well-rounded stats that make it reliable in all early-to-mid game content. Its satisfying attack flow and high damage potential make it one of the most sought-after tame beasts in the game.


3. Scourge of the Skies – S Tier | Act 4, Shrike Island

Scourge of the Skies is an elite aerial boss from Act 4’s Shrike Island and a top-tier S Tier minion. This stationary nest-based boss prioritizes nonstop offensive abilities with zero downtime, making it ideal for consistent clearing and damage output. Its toolkit includes deadly tornado summons, blood rain AoE, and a channeling corrosive beam, all of which cover large areas and deal high sustained damage.


A unique bonus of Scourge of the Skies is its ability to summon small auxiliary bird minions that auto-attack nearby enemies, providing extra passive damage. It rarely moves from its combat position, eliminating wasted movement time and ensuring every second of combat contributes to damage output. 4. Chetza, the Feathered Plague – S Tier | Trial of Chaos

Chetza, the Feathered Plague, is a powerful Trial of Chaos boss and the final S Tier entry on this list. Serving as an advanced variant of Scourge of the Skies, Chetza boasts upgraded tornado abilities, faster cast animations, and amplified damage on all core skills. Players frequently struggle against this boss in trial content due to its overwhelming AoE pressure, and this strength fully translates to its minion form.


Its giant roaming tornadoes are its greatest asset, as they continuously damage large swathes of enemies and eliminate trash mobs without direct targeting. All of Chetza’s abilities feature fast animations and high damage scaling, it has no major mechanical flaws and delivers consistent, top-tier performance in all combat scenarios.


5. Xyclucian, the Chimera – A Tier | Act 3, Chimeral Wetlands

Xyclucian, the Chimera, is a versatile multi-element boss from Act 3’s Chimeral Wetlands. This beast has an extremely diverse toolkit, featuring cold attacks, fire breath, physical slams, and poison AoE skills. All of its abilities have snappy, fast animations and wide AoE coverage, allowing it to clear enemy packs quickly.


Its main weakness is its unpredictable ability rotation. With four distinct damage types, it is impossible to fully scale all of its damage with single-type support gems or curses. This mixed damage pool limits its peak potential compared to S Tier beasts, but its sheer variety of attacks and consistent AoE output make it a powerful and fun minion for general content.


6. Great White One – A Tier | Act 4, Whakapanu Island

The Great White One, a massive shark boss from Act 4’s Whakapanu Island. This aquatic boss features quick burst animations and two standout core abilities: massive tail-cleave AoE and roaming tornado summons. Its tornado skills are particularly valuable for map clearing, as they traverse large areas and damage enemies continuously.


The only uncertainty surrounding this beast is whether its tornado effect is a permanent boss ability or a zone-specific environmental mechanic. If the tornado translates fully to minion form, it can rival S Tier clearing speed. Even without tornadoes, its fast melee cleaves and high burst damage keep it in the A Tier for reliable combat performance.


7. The Abominable Yeti – A Tier | The Howling Caves (Interlude)

Located in the interlude’s Howling Caves, The Abominable Yeti is a rugged melee-focused A Tier companion. It shares many core traits with Silverfist, including fast attack speeds, solid AoE slams, and consistent physical damage output. Its bulky model grants it slightly better natural survivability than most melee beast minions.


The Yeti’s only downside is its lack of unique mechanical perks compared to the S Tier boss. It is a straightforward, reliable damage dealer with no standout broken abilities, but it suffers from zero major flaws. It is a perfect budget A Tier choice for players who miss out on Silverfist or prefer tankier melee minions.


8. Rakkar, the Frozen Talon – A Tier | Interlude

Rakkar, the Frozen Talon, is a heavily featured interlude boss with impressive AoE damage and visual flair. This beast wields large frost-based AoE attacks with high damage multipliers and wide coverage, which is excellent for crowd control and clearing dense enemy packs.


Its main flaw is clunky channeling animations. Many of its strongest frost abilities require a 2–3 second cast time, which often results in wasted damage potential against weak, fast-dying trash mobs. While it excels in slow, high-health boss fights, its inconsistent speed holds it back from S Tier status for general mapping content.


9. Uxmal, the Beastlord – A Tier | Trial of Chaos

Uxmal, the Beastlord, is a three-headed winged boss from the Trial of Chaos, with nearly identical performance to Xyclucian the Chimera. It boasts large AoE attacks, fast snappy animations, and a diverse multi-element skill set that delivers well-rounded damage for all content types.


Just like the Chimera, Uxmal’s downfall is its unpredictable mixed ability rotation. It cycles through multiple damage types randomly, preventing players from fully optimizing support gem scaling. Even with this limitation, its high base damage and versatile AoE make it a top-tier reliable minion for trial and endgame content.


10. Bahlak, the Sky Seer – A Tier | Trial of Chaos

Bahlak, the Sky Seer, is another strong Trial of Chaos A Tier beast with massive tornado-based AoE potential. It features high-damage aerial abilities and roaming wind tornadoes that excel at wide-area crowd clearing. Its animations are smooth and fast, with minimal downtime between attacks.


Its ranking is held back solely by ability inconsistency. It has a large pool of skills, and players cannot guarantee it will prioritize its best tornado clearing abilities in minion form. If it focuses on its wind AoE skills consistently, it can reach near-S Tier performance.


11. The Crowbell – B Tier | Act 1, Hunting Grounds

The Crowbell is an early Act 1 boss found in the Hunting Grounds and one of the best early-game tame beasts. This melee-focused beast has extremely fast movement and attack animations, with consistent cleave AoE damage that makes campaign clearing effortless.


As a melee minion, its only weakness is survivability risk. Developer confirms that tamed boss minions have longer revival timers than regular minions (longer than the standard 4-second revive). Since The Crowbell aggressively charges into melee combat, it can die frequently in dense fights, leaving players without a minion for extended periods. Even so, its fast consistent damage makes it a reliable early-game option.


12. RathBreaker – B Tier | Act 2, Vastiri Outskirts

RathBreaker is the first boss of Act 2’s Vastiri Outskirts, a fast-attacking physical beast with mixed usability. It features quick animation speeds and long-reaching cone attacks that cover distant targets, which is a unique advantage for a melee minion.


Its biggest flaw is limited AoE potential. Its signature rain of arrows ability is sourced from allied minions during the boss fight and may not translate to its minion form. Without this skill, its AoE coverage becomes narrow and underwhelming. It performs decently for single-target damage but lacks reliable crowd clearing.


13. Yama, The White – B Tier | Act 4, Halls of the Dead

Yama, The White, is a monkey-type boss from Act 4’s Halls of the Dead, serving as a weaker variant of Silverfist. It has fast animations and decent AoE attacks, but most of its unique fight mechanics are boss-specific and do not carry over to minion gameplay.


Its ability rotation is highly unpredictable, with frequent random movement and trick animations that disrupt consistent damage output. While it is far from weak, its lack of reliable, spammable damage skills prevents it from reaching higher tier.


14. Kabala, The Constrictor Queen – B Tier | Act 2, Keth

Kabala, The Constrictor Queen, is a ranged snake boss from Act 2’s Keth zone, standing out as one of the few ranged tame beasts in early gameplay. It features fast attack animations, explosive projectile auto-attacks, and multiple solid AoE skills.


Its most exciting potential utility is minion summoning. During its boss fight, Kabala spawns swarms of small snake minions, and if this ability translates to minion form, it can offer unique stacking and scaling opportunities. Since this mechanic is unconfirmed, it cannot rank higher than B Tier. Even without summoning, its ranged AoE damage makes it a steady average performer.


15. The Devourer – C Tier | Act 1, Mud Burrow

The Devourer is an early Act 1 boss located in the Mud Burrow zone, ranking firmly in C Tier due to passive and inconsistent combat behavior. This beast has extremely slow attack animations and a core defensive habit of burrowing underground to avoid damage.


While burrowing, The Devourer deals zero damage, creating frequent downtime in combat. Its base AoE range is small due to its early-game boss balancing, and its projectile auto-attack is inconsistent and rarely spammed. It lacks aggressive AI, making it a lazy minion that fails to contribute consistent damage. It is only usable as a temporary early-game filler.


16. Ekbab, Ancient Steed – C Tier | Act 2, The Bone Pits

Ekbab, Ancient Steed, is a skeleton mammoth boss from Act 2’s The Bone Pits, part of a dual boss encounter. This bulky melee beast has slightly better AoE coverage than The Devourer but suffers from the same core flaws: slow animations and pure melee range combat.


As a large melee minion, Ekbab frequently charges into dangerous enemy packs and takes heavy damage. Without high base survivability, it dies quickly and suffers from the long minion revive timer. Additionally, its enrage abilities from the boss fight are fight-exclusive and do not activate in minion form. Its only potential upside is high base HP, which could enable niche righteous fire-style builds.


17. The Blind Beast – D Tier | Act 4, Isle of Kin

The Blind Beast from Act 4’s Isle of Kin is the lowest-ranked tame beast in this list. This boss feels like a generic rare monster rather than a unique endgame beast, with no standout abilities or mechanical perks.


It has slow, tiny melee slap attacks with minimal AoE coverage and frequent idle behavior where it refuses to attack. Its small model offers no tank or damage advantages, and it contributes almost no meaningful damage in combat. There is zero reason to use this minion once better alternatives are unlocked.


18. Diamora, Song of Death – D Tier | Act 4, Singing Caverns

Diamora, Song of Death, is an Act 4 boss from the Singing Caverns and another underwhelming D tier beast. Most of its iconic fight mechanics—including water tornado barriers and channeling scream damage—are exclusive to its boss encounter and do not translate to minion form.


Its remaining usable abilities have small AoE ranges and low damage scaling. It lacks consistent offensive pressure and unique utility, so it is far less effective than every other tameable boss. It offers no benefits for clearing, boss fighting, or build utility.


PoE 2 0.5 Unique Beasts Minion Bonuses 

In PoE 2 0.5, 12 unique tame boss beasts receive exclusive powerful minion-specific bonuses that stack on top of the universal 3x minion damage buff. These perks greatly change each beast’s build niche and combat performance. Note that Morvak is the only unique beast with no bonus changes. 

1. The Devourer – 200% More Poison Magnitude

This is a massive multiplicative poison damage boost. However, The Devourer’s passive burrow behavior severely limits its attack uptime, making this strong bonus mostly wasted in actual combat.


2. The Crowbell – 300% More Stun Magnitude

Great early-game crowd control buff. It drastically increases stun duration and strength, letting The Crowbell stun-lock enemy packs consistently with its fast melee attacks.


3. RathBreaker – 30% Physical Damage vs Broken Armor, 20% More Total Damage

Solid generic physical damage boost. It improves both single-target and minor AoE output, slightly raising this beast’s overall reliability for early physical minion setups.


4. Silverfist – +19% Critical Chance, +150% Critical Damage Bonus

Top-tier crit buffs that perfectly fit its fast, aggressive playstyle. This bonus drastically improves burst damage, cementing Silverfist’s status as an all-around S-tier meta minion.


5. Xyclucian, the Chimera – 25% Damage as Extra Random Elemental Damage, 200% Increased Elemental Ailment Magnitude

Extremely strong for ailment builds. It amplifies shock, chill, burn and poison effects, while extra random elemental damage boosts overall clear and bossing consistency.


6. Great White One – 25% Chance to Bleed on Hit, +200% Bleed Magnitude

Turns this shark beast into a potent physical DoT minion. High bleed magnitude allows it to stack powerful long-lasting bleed effects on groups of enemies.


7. Rakkar, the Frozen Talon – 50% Damage Converted to Cold, 50% Extra Cold Damage

Full cold conversion plus massive extra cold damage. It simplifies cold build scaling and significantly boosts both freeze potential and raw cold damage output.


8. The Abominable Yeti – All Hits Contribute to Freeze Buildup, 50% Cold Conversion, 100% Increased Freeze Multiplier

The best dedicated freeze minion in the patch. Every attack builds freeze, and the doubled freeze multiplier lets it lock down even tough endgame enemies reliably.


9. Ashar, the Sand Mother – 50% Increased Impale Magnitude, 50% Impale Chance on Hit, Cannot Consume Impale Stacks

Broken niche physical buff. Permanent unconsumed impale stacks create infinite stacking physical DoT, making Ashar elite for pure impale minion builds.


10. Uxmal, the Beastlord – 50% Damage as Extra Random Elemental Damage

Greatly boosts overall damage and elemental coverage. It enhances its already versatile multi-element kit for general mapping, despite unpredictable elemental rolls.


11. Chetza, the Feathered Plague – Corrupted Blood on Hit (600 avg damage/min per stack, 4000 tick duration, 1 max stack)

Adds strong sustained Corrupted Blood DoT to all attacks. This hidden stacking damage layer further elevates Chetza’s already dominant S-tier AoE and bossing performance.


12. Bahlak, the Sky Seer – 50% Damage as Extra Lightning Damage

Specialized lightning damage buff. It synergizes perfectly with shock builds, turning its tornado AoE into excellent shock-clearing tools for fast map progression.
