Aion 2 DPS Tier List - Best DPS Classes for Aion 2 Global

Aion 2 brings a notable difference between its Korean live server balance and the newly launched global version. Unlike many MMOs that rely on third-party parsers to measure damage output, Aion 2 has a built-in damage meter. This Aion 2 tier list ranks all 8 classes from the highest DPS class to the lowest one.

Aion 2 DPS Tier List

Aion 2 DPS Tier List - Best DPS Classes for Aion 2 Global

The game itself publishes boss leaderboards, showing the top 100 players of every class for each boss fight, split into top 10%, top 25%, and median DPS values. This guide ranks classes based on top player performance, which gives a more realistic view of consistent class power, instead of only looking at one-off peak records from the best individual players. There is an important warning before diving into rankings: class balance shifts often, and the global release uses a mixed set of skill content. Global servers have Season 1 dungeon and raid content but Season 4 mastery skills, while level 25 stigma skills are locked away. This mismatch creates a unique meta for global launch that will likely change soon with official balance patches.

Important note: Brawler exists on Korean and Taiwan servers but is not available at global launch. There is not enough stable global data for Brawler, so it will not be covered in this guide. The global launch roster includes eight classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, Chanter. Two pure DPS classes, two off-tank/tank, two support/healer. NCsoft regularly releases buffs and nerfs every few weeks, so the DPS ranking is fluid; today’s top class may drop after the next patch. The four core damage dealers sit extremely close in overall numbers, with small gaps separating them. DPS performance is heavily situational: short burst fights favor burst classes, while longer fights reward sustained damage over time.

1. Sorcerer (S Tier DPS)

Sorcerer is an elemental magic ranged damage dealer. It holds the strongest consistent DPS in the Korean server meta. It is the only class to land in the top two across all three benchmark boss fights, with a composite score of 98%. It performs reliably in both long raids and burst-friendly short encounters, even in fights that favor melee classes. Sorcerer also benefits from the front attack damage multiplier stat that ranged builds have started to utilize. While it is the highest-DPS class, it still sees a fair share of player complaints on Korean forums, showing class power does not directly match how much players complain about it.

  • PvE: Excellent mix of burst and sustained magic damage. Short boss kill windows reward its burst; long encounters maintain steady pressure. Global launch limitation: Smite build power is reduced because global does not unlock many Smite genus skills, limiting its early PvE potential.

  • PvP: High burst damage and strong crowd control. Major weakness is low survivability. In solo PvP it lands B tier due to limited defensive toolkit and global Smite nerfs. In small group PvP it is vulnerable when focused and sits at C tier. In large-scale ZvZ, Sorcerer shines in S tier, casting from safe range and applying AoE pressure to enemy groups.

2. Spiritmaster (S Tier DPS)

Spiritmaster is a summoner that controls elemental spirits to deal damage. Its damage numbers are very strong, but there is a critical detail: the player sample size for Spiritmaster is extremely small. This small pool means the players using Spiritmaster are mostly experienced veterans, not a broad random playerbase. Its DPS numbers are real, but the result gets boosted by the low population of skilled players. Spiritmaster also brings strong built-in utility and better survivability than Sorcerer, which makes it feel smoother in active combat.

  • PvE: Excels at sustained long fight damage. Summons maintain damage uptime even when the player must move for boss mechanics, making it very consistent for longer raids. Burst is good but not as explosive as Assassin or Sorcerer.

  • PvP: Powerful crowd control from spirits. Early and late solo PvP A tier. In small group PvP it is A tier, offering CC and ranged pressure. ZvZ large scale PvP S tier, safe ranged damage output. It retains solid utility even with weaker gear, making it a decent free-to-play option.

3. Ranger (A Tier DPS)

Ranger is a ranged attacker who fights with bows and traps. It ranks third on every benchmark boss fight in the KR data, never higher and never lower. It has the largest player population among all damage classes. Many less experienced players bring down its average result, yet it still outperforms five other classes. This means Ranger has the highest skill floor in Aion 2. It is easy to pick up and maintain solid damage without perfect execution, making it a steady, reliable pick for most players.

  • PvE: Stable sustained ranged physical DPS. Safe positioning reduces deaths during mechanics, which helps keep DPS uptime high. Not peak burst, but consistent in nearly all fight types.

  • PvP: Early solo PvP A tier, powered by evasion. Global servers lower the evasion cap from 50% to 30% compared to KR/TW, but evasion still provides meaningful survivability at the start of the game. As players gear up and stack accuracy, Ranger’s evasion advantage fades, dropping its late solo PvP standing to the bottom of A tier. In late small-group PvP, Rangers require extra healing from Clerics and drop to B tier. For ZvZ, Ranger is S tier; ranged positioning keeps it safe while dealing steady pressure. As a damage-focused class, Ranger struggles if you are free-to-play and lack strong gear.

4. Assassin (A Tier DPS)

Assassin is a stealth melee DPS built around high burst damage. Its top 25% DPS is competitive. The problem for Assassin is not raw damage, but raid recruitment. Even with good DPS numbers, many raid leaders do not want to bring Assassins into parties. Korean community threads discuss how Assassin players struggle to find raid invites, even with strong parses. Assassin also loses a large amount of potential power on global servers because it cannot access level 25 stigma skills.

  • PvE: Massive split between early and late PvE. Early progression (sanctuary) B tier: mechanics force frequent movement, limiting uptime and preventing full burst potential. Once groups master mechanics and bosses die in 30–40 second burst windows, Assassin jumps to S tier late-game PvE because its burst kit perfectly matches short kill windows.

  • PvP: King of solo PvP, S tier early and late. Stealth controls engagement; you choose when to fight, stun and burst targets, or disengage. Small group PvP A tier, supported by team utility. In huge ZvZ wars, Assassin is C tier; rushing into hundreds of enemies means instant death. Most Assassin players only pick off isolated targets around objectives in large battles. Free-to-play players should avoid Assassin, as it requires expensive passives and top-tier gear to work properly.

5. Gladiator (B Tier DPS, Off-Tank)

Gladiator is a melee fighter that uses heavy greatsword weapons and area-of-effect attacks. Developers at NCsoft have heavily improved Gladiator in recent patches, boosting its damage and gameplay feel. Gladiator is fundamentally an off-tank, not a pure DPS class. It can put out good damage, but it will never reach the ceiling of Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Ranger, Assassin. In fights that favor melee uptime, Gladiator can climb higher on the DPS board.

  • PvE: Early progression A tier, provides strong raid damage buffs and can fill off-tank roles. Common group setup splits Templar and Gladiator in two parties paired with clerics and a Chanter. Late game PvE stays A tier with solid DPS and valuable buff utility.

  • PvP: S tier solo PvP, one of the most complete PvP kits in the game. It has high damage, stigma skills for high CC resistance, and an invulnerability skill for defense and escapes. Small group PvP A tier. ZvZ large scale PvP C tier; melee frontline play makes it melt quickly against mass enemy players. Gladiator has enough useful buffs and off-tank utility to stay relevant for free-to-play players even without perfect gear.

6. Chanter (B Tier DPS, Hybrid Support/DPS)

Chanter is a hybrid support class that brings buffs, cooldown reduction and light healing for the party. It is not designed to be a main damage dealer, yet it can reach top five DPS on some boss fights in the normal KR meta. The global server breaks this balance completely: Chanter’s DPS output is extremely strong right now because it loses the least from missing level 25 stigma skills. This unexpected power spike is not the intended state, and players expect developers to nerf Chanter or buff other classes in coming updates. Even in stable KR balance, Chanter can put out surprising damage while still offering useful party support.

  • PvE: Early progression A tier, provides valuable raid cooldown reduction. Once groups enter late PvE with fast boss kills, that cooldown reduction becomes even more valuable for maximizing burst damage, pushing Chanter into S tier for late PvE.

  • PvP: Early solo PvP A tier with healing and sustain. Once fully geared in late game, Chanter rises to the top of A tier in solo PvP, gaining strong damage and 100% hit abilities that counter evasion-focused Assassin and Ranger builds. In early small-group PvP, Chanter drops to B tier because it overlaps with Cleric’s healing role, and groups prefer to bring extra DPS instead. In late small-group PvP, geared Chanters shift back to A tier, dealing real damage while still supplying party buffs and survivability. In ZvZ battles, Chanter is A tier; it can fight from range and still offer team support. Chanter is a great free-to-play pick, as its buffs and cooldown reduction stay valuable no matter your gear level.

7. Templar (C Tier DPS, Main Tank)

Templar is the main frontline tank, sword and shield, with high defense and crowd control tools for holding aggro. Templar does not appear on the game’s DPS leaderboards, because its job is to absorb damage and protect the party instead of dealing damage. In some melee-friendly fights, skilled Templars can post surprisingly high damage numbers, but this is a bonus, not its core role. Its true value comes from tanking and utility rather than damage.

  • PvE: Early progression S tier. No progression party can easily replace the main tank’s aggro control and boss management. Once players reach late PvE with extremely fast boss kills, Templar drops to B tier. Groups no longer need heavy tanking and healing when enemies die in seconds. Its personal damage output is naturally low compared to all DPS and hybrid classes.

  • PvP: A tier for early solo PvP thanks to natural tankiness, solid damage, and crowd control. After Korean and Taiwan balance updates, its damage and CC improved significantly, making it very strong in late solo PvP. It is also A tier in small-group PvP. In ZvZ battles, geared Templars act as the faction’s frontline and are ranked B tier. While very tough, Templar is melee and cannot safely attack contested bosses or artifacts like ranged classes can. Templar has strong defensive utility and remains useful for free-to-play players even with weaker gear.

8. Cleric (C Tier DPS, Main Healer)

Cleric is the primary healer, shield and mace, using recovery and protective magic to keep the party alive. It never shows up on official DPS rankings. Its core job is healing, resurrection and damage mitigation for raids. Cleric players post the least amount of frustrated or quitting feedback on Korean forums, even though the class deals the lowest baseline damage. Like Templar, it is unranked on DPS charts by design.

  • PvE: Irreplaceable in early PvE progression and claims S tier here. Every group needs reliable healing to get through hard fights. Once reaching late PvE with fast boss deaths, Cleric falls to B tier because groups need less healing for short encounters. Its personal damage is the lowest of all eight classes.

  • PvP: B tier for solo PvP. It is hard to kill, but it lacks strong burst pressure for roaming the abyss. In small-group PvP, however, Cleric jumps straight to S tier. A good Cleric completely changes how a small group performs in fights, and this holds true in both early and late small-scale PvP. Cleric is the absolute best free-to-play class. Even undergeared parties still need healing for dungeons and alt runs. Its block and resistance stats are cheap to build with manastones, and it only requires a small number of key passives compared to damage classes like Assassin.
