FC 24 4-2-4 Formation Guide - Best 424 Tactics & Instructions

The 424 formation in FC 24 is a highly attacking formation that can pose a significant threat to the opposition. However, it is important to note that this formation lacks players in the midfield, which can make it challenging to control the game and maintain possession.

Defense: The formation consists of a flat-back four, with two center-backs and two full-backs. The full-backs should primarily focus on defensive duties and stay back while attacking to provide stability at the back.

Don't you ever use pressure at the start of the match, maybe you are playing against someone who is good at counterattacks, you can easily concede a silly goal from a Counterattack at the start of the match and you don't want that. Always start the match with balance but if you are losing and you really need to score a goal go with Press After Possession Less. We always recommend Press After Possession Less if you are losing. And using this formation, you have got 2 Center Mids, a Right Wing and a left Wing that can get you the ball quickly after you lose it.

For Depth, we suggest you always go for between 55 to 65, don't go higher than 65 because you don't have a CDM on this formation, and don't go below 55, so 60 is maybe perfect for the 424 formation build-up.

For Build Up Play, we go for Balance. Fast Build Up is actually really good using this formation but it can cost you a goal from a counterattack, so we only recommend using Fast Build Up if you are losing and you need to score a goal. Other than that Fast Build Up can give you some problems on the defense, so that's why we go for Balance here.

For Chance Creation, you have two options, the first option is to go with Direct Passing which is absolutely great for using a formation that has Wing guards in the game, but at the same time this formation doesn't have a center attack in it, so Direct Passing might be not the best option. So if Direct Passing doesn't work well for you in the game, go with Balance as it is good for using any formation in FC 24. But at the same time, Direct Passing is more creative and more effective in the game. So you have got two options try first Direct Passing, if it doesn't work with you and your play style, switch it to Balance and you will be Gucci

With the attack, we are going for low, 424 is a formation that's already wide on the attack since you have a right-wing and a left-wing, so 40 or 45 is perfect for this formation.

Best Midfielders for 424 Formation

For the midfielders, you have a right center mid and a left Center mid, now one of them is going to be a box-to-box midfielder and the other one is going to play like a center defending mid in the game. And what we are going for is the Left Center mid who's going to be the CDM in the game a player that won't help us on the attack that much, but on the defense he's always there and ready to tackle or intercept the ball. So you need a Cover Center for a defending midfield player that has got absolutely great defending and physicality and we recommend using a player that has got the medium-high work crate that would be absolutely perfect. Or maybe the low-high work crate you don't want him to help you on the attack at all, you need him to play as a CDM in the game. And for his instructions, Stay Back While Attacking not only also with Cover Center for the left center mid.  For the Right Mid,  you need a box-to-box midfielder, that player is going to help you on the attack and the defense at the same time, you need a player that has got good-rounded stats like shooting, assisting, defending, and tackling. We recommend using a player that has a high work rate, it would be absolutely perfect for your Right Center Mid. Because he's a box to box midfielder you're going to see him on the attack scoring and assisting. At the same time, you're going to see him on the defense, tackling, and intercepting.

With that, you're going to see them coming back on defense and it will turn into a 442 formation on the defense. It's really important to use comeback on defense for your right wing and left wing. Basically, you can defend with only two center mids but you need the help of the right wing and the left wing on the defense. And get into the box for cross, it's really important as well for the right wing and left wing. With that, you're going to see them always trying to get in behind and break the defense line. Sometimes if you are with the midfielders, you're going to see them coming short and asking for a b which is absolutely great. And that's the reason why we don't use Get in Behind for the Wingers, basically with getting behind your right wing and left wing going to be 90% of the time offside and they will always try to get in behind and they won't care at all where the ball is. But using Get Into the Box for Cross, they will try to get in behind and they will get in behind, but at the same time you're going to see them asking for a ball and playing Tiktaka which is way better than using it in behind.

You have a right Striker and a left Strike,  now one of them is going to play like a center forward and the other Striker is going to be your main Striker that scores more goals for you. For right Striker is going to play like a center forward/center attack in in game, so basically you need a striker that has got good dribbling and passing with good shooting as well. Basically, you're going to see him assisting the left Striker more than scoring goals for you because you're going to see him playing like a center forward/center attacking mid in the game, and of course, you're going to see him on many matches scoring goals for you. Basically, you just need a left striker who has got great pace and great finishing in the game and doesn't care about the dribbling or the passing for the left striker, he's always trying to get in behind and he is always there to finish the goals for you.

For the instructions for the right Striker, don't you change anything with him, everything is on balance with that, sometimes you're going to see him coming back and asking for the ball to feed your right wing left wing, or maybe your left Striker? And sometimes if there is a chance for a Counterattack you're going to see him trying to get in behind and scoring goals. So basically balance on everything for the right Striker is the best thing to use.
