Horadric Cube is a legendary crafting tool added in the expansion. You unlock it by progressing through the Vessel of Hatred campaign. Once unlocked, it resides in Temis. It uses recipes and rare materials, primarily Primordial Dust (various types) and Tuning Prisms. The cube lets you modify, upgrade, and transform items. Whether you’re trying to chase Greater Affixes, craft the perfect amulet, or maximize your farming efficiency, these 10 Horadric Cube tricks will save you time, materials, and frustration. Let’s dive in.
Trick #1: Lock Greater Affixes Before Crafting
The Problem: You have a piece of gear with a perfect Greater Affix, but you need to reroll other stats. You’re terrified of losing it. The Fix: You can actually lock a Greater Affix at the Enchanter. Here’s how:
Go to the Enchanter → Enchant Item
Put your gear in and select the Greater Affix you want to protect
Click Enchant → Choose “Do Nothing — No Change”
The Diablo 4 item will still show the Greater Affix (same percentage, same icon, same “Greater Affix” label under the name). But now — no matter what you do in the Horadric Cube — that affix will not change, will not be removed, and will always stay exactly as it is.
Trick #2: Guarantee +All Skills on an Amulet
Want +All Skills on your amulet? There’s a guaranteed way to get it using the Adept Tuning Prism.
Step-by-Step:
Start with a blue or yellow amulet (or one you’ve stripped to base)
If you have a Greater Affix you want to keep, lock it first (see Trick #1)
Use the Adept Tuning Prism → Add Affix — this will add a skill rank or your main stat
Transmute again → you’ll get your main stat (Strength/Willpower/Dexterity/Intelligence)
The next transmute is GUARANTEED to be +All Skills — because it’s the only possible outcome left
Optimization Tip: You can only have two types of skill ranks on an amulet - “+All Skills” and one specific skill type, plus your main stat. If you don’t like the roll quality, remove one affix to improve your odds, or clear everything and start over.
Trick #3: Guarantee All Resistances on Armor
Using the Chromatic Tuning Prism works exactly the same way as Trick #2:
Strip your armor piece down or start with a clean base
Use Chromatic Tuning Prism → Add Affix — adds a single resistance (Poison, Fire, Lightning, etc.)
The next transmute is guaranteed to give you +All Resistances
You can only have two affixes inside this prism, so this is perfect for armor pieces where you want to quickly cap your resistances without gambling at the Enchanter.
Trick #4: Reroll Legendary Gear Using Chaotic Rolling
Legendary gear has a problem: you can only reroll one affix at the Enchanter. But what if two affixes on your legendary are wrong? Enter Chaotic Rolling. Here’s the full strategy:
First, go to the Enchanter and lock the affix you want to keep (see Trick #1)
Go to the Horadric Cube → Consumables → Chaotic Rerolling
Check the cheat sheet to see which category your unwanted affix falls under (e.g., Maximum Life = Protector)
Apply a Chaotic Tuning Prism targeting that category
Transmute — it will scramble the affixes, and your locked affix stays safe
Even Better: If you have two affixes you want to remove, chaotic roll until both are gone. The tuning prisms will disappear from the bottom once an affix has been rolled. Example: Remove Movement Speed and Pragmatic → replace with Fire Damage Multiplier and Attack Speed.
Trick #5: Farm & Sell Six Slot Seals
Six Slot Seals are one of the most valuable commodities in Season 14. How to Get Them:
Boss drops — this season’s bosses drop them frequently
3:1 Transmute — put five 5-slot seals into the cube and transmute for a chance at a six slot seal
Diablo 4 Gold Farming Tip: If you don’t need them, each six slot seal sells to vendors for ~13 million gold. If you’re running bosses anyway, you can build up a nice gold reserve just from seal drops.
Trick #6: Greater Affixes on Charms
This season, charms can drop with Greater Affixes — which wasn’t possible last season. Last season, the only way was to roll them in the cube. The Efficient Strategy:
Get all 20/20 charm affixes maxed out
Use Set Charm Reroll and mash reroll as fast as possible
When a Greater Affix appears, check it — if it’s good, equip it
Only keep ONE charm at a time: equip the new one, take the old one off, put the old one into the cube, reroll that one
This saves massive stash space. Salvage everything else for materials and just keep rerolling the same charm until you hit the Greater Affix you want.
Trick #7: Hunting for Aspects Early Season
Early in the season or when leveling an alt, aspects can be hard to come by. The cube solves this.
Grab any yellow piece of gear (3 or 4 affixes, doesn’t matter)
Put it in the cube → Legendary → Transmute
It gives you a random aspect from the category you select (Offensive, Defensive, etc.)
For Max Rolls:
Use 900 item power yellow gear — it will roll higher aspects. If you just need the base aspect, any item power works.
Trick #8: Target-Farm Non-Boss Uniques
Some Uniques have no dedicated boss drop — like Tibault’s Will, Endurant Faith, Fists of Fate, Banished Lord’s Talisman, and others from the General Unique Pool. The cube gives you a way to target them.
Go to the Opal vendor → grab any blue or yellow piece of gear in the right slot (e.g., pants for Tibault’s Will)
Must be 900 item power for best results
Put it in the cube → Remove All Affixes until it’s a normal base item
Click Upgrade to Unique → Transmute
You have roughly a 1 in 4 chance at the Unique you want, depending on the slot’s Unique pool size
This is the only reliable way to farm these non-targetable Uniques.
Trick #9: Craft a Unique Charm
Got a duplicate Unique you don’t need? Turn it into a Unique Charm.
You need a 900+ item power Unique piece
Go to the cube → All Talisman
Put in three charms + the Unique gear
Transmute — and hope for good rolls
Example result: +All Stats + Cold Resistance. If you’re lucky enough to roll main skill ranks or max resources, you’ve got a keeper. If not, try again with another duplicate Unique.
Trick #10: Master Amalgamation
Amalgamation is the most versatile function in the cube. Here’s everything it can do:
Upgrade Runes
Put five runes of the same type into Amalgamate → guaranteed upgrade to the next tier (unlike the Jeweler’s 3:1 which gives a random rune in the same category).
To craft specific runes: 5 Invocation Legendary Runes + 5 Rare Runes + 1 Pricat = targeted craft.
Boss Materials → Uniques
Have extra boss trophies (like Astaroth trophies)? Amalgamate them to get a random Unique from that boss’s loot table — without having to run the dungeon.
Best Use: Convert all of them → salvage at Blacksmith → massive Forgotten Souls farm.
Upgrade Tribute Keys
Put tributes into Amalgamate to upgrade them. The Armament tribute is the only one that can go past legendary → becomes Mythic Tribute of Armament. No other tribute types can do this.
Escalating Nightmare Dungeon Sigils
Put five regular Nightmare Dungeon sigils into Amalgamate → get one Escalating Nightmare Dungeon sigil.
Season 14 Meta: Escalating Nightmare Dungeons are much stronger than regular Nightmare Dungeons this season. Don’t bother running regular ones — either amalgamate them up or salvage them at the Blacksmith for Sigil Powder.
Horadric Gems (Beyond Grand)
Put five Grand Gems into Amalgamate → get Tier 1 Horadric Gem
Put five Tier 1 Horadric Gems → get Tier 2 Horadric Gem
Keep going to max
Pro Tip: Escalating Nightmare Dungeons drop a boatload of Grand Gems, making this farm much faster.
BONUS: The Transfiguration Trap (Don’t Ruin Your Gear!)
Before you hit Transfigure on your amulet, follow STEAM:
Socket — Add a socket at the Jeweler Temper — Apply your tempers Enchant — Reroll your affixes Aspect — Apply your legendary aspect Masterwork — Upgrade at the Blacksmith
Once you Transfigure, the gear becomes unmodifiable. No sockets can be added. No tempers. No masterworking. No aspect changes. Nothing. All you can do is salvage it.
The Right Way:
First, use Kon Tuning Prism (Consumables) to add a Utility aspect as a second legendary aspect on your amulet
You may need to do this 30-50 times to get the right aspect and roll
Then hit Transfigure — this adds another stat line (Max Resources, Damage Multipliers, etc.)
Using Entropic Tuning Prism for Transfigure = 100% unmodifiable
Using regular Transfigure = high chance unmodifiable (but tiny chance to add an extra line)
DO NOT skip STEAM before transfiguring.
