How To Get & Use Mythic Tributes in Diablo 4 Season 13 & LoH?

Season 13 of Diablo 4, also known as Lord of Hatred, has brought sweeping changes to how players chase the most powerful gear in the game. Mythic uniques aren't even that rare anymore, and that's a good thing. One of the most exciting additions this season is the Mythic Tribute system, which gives players a reliable path toward obtaining Mythic Unique items through the Kor Drach Undercity activity.

Mythic Tribute of Armaments have quickly become one of the most talked-about Diablo 4 Season 13 items among endgame players. They function as special keys for the Undercity, and when used correctly, they can produce guaranteed Mythic Unique drops. But finding them takes some effort, and running them efficiently requires the right setup. Below, we'll cover exactly what these Tributes are, where they come from, and the best strategies for making every single one count.

Diablo 4 Mythic Tribute Drop Locations, Farm & Use Guide (S13/LoH)

In Season 13, Mythic Uniques are no longer the ultra-rare prize they once were, and a big part of that shift comes from the introduction of the Mythic Tribute of Armaments. Unlike the previous Tribute of Ascendance from earlier seasons, which was unique in quality and only offered a modest chance at a Mythic drop, this new Tribute is Mythic in quality itself and appears to guarantee at least one Mythic Unique Item when used in the Undercity. With the right setup, some players have walked away with 10 or more Mythic Uniques from a single run.

Now that you have a general idea of what's happening this season, let's get into the specifics of how this new Tribute works, where it drops, and how to run it for maximum rewards.

What Are Mythic Tributes and How Do They Work?

Mythic Tributes are a special tier of Undercity tribute items that you can use to start a tribute run in the Kor Drach Undercity. The one you're looking for is specifically called the Mythic Tribute of Armaments, and it is Mythic in terms of item quality. This is different from the Tribute of Ascendance, which was the older version from previous seasons, that one was unique-quality and had a decent but fairly low chance of actually awarding you a Mythic after completing the Undercity.

Diablo 4 Mythic Tribute of Armaments

Mythic Tribute of Armaments vs. Tribute of Ascendance

The Mythic Tribute of Armaments appears to have a very high, if not guaranteed, chance of giving you a Mythic Unique Item at the end of a run. Players who have tested it on Torment 6 and above have reported consistently receiving at least one Mythic Unique. Community reports on forums and Reddit back this up: whoever got the Mythic Tribute of Armaments (not the old Tribute of Ascendance) always received a Mythic Unique.

From player experience, at Torment 8 or above, these tributes are effectively guaranteed to give you a Mythic Unique drop. There is no RNG involved at that stage. This makes the Mythic Tribute of Armaments one of the most reliable sources of Mythic Uniques in the entire game right now.

Mythic Uniques Drop With Top Rolls

A nice detail about Mythic Uniques this season is that they actually drop with the same affixes at top roll every time, with their standard power also at a top roll. Regular uniques have different affixes based on where you find them, and you're not guaranteed a top roll on the actual power. Mythic Uniques, by contrast, remain consistent and reliable in quality every time they drop.

How To Get Mythic Tributes in Diablo 4 Season 13 & LoH?

Now that you know what the Mythic Tribute of Armaments does, the real question becomes: where do you find one? The item description says it is "found rarely on world bosses," but that's only part of the story.

Drop Locations for Mythic Tribute of Armaments

Here are the confirmed drop locations where players have obtained Mythic Tributes this season:

  • World Bosses - This is the location called out directly in the item tooltip. Multiple players have confirmed drops from world boss fights. One community member reported getting three Mythic Tributes from world boss kills alone.

  • Tree of Whispers Caches - The Greater quality dungeon key caches from Whisper rewards are another confirmed source. This is one of the more repeatable farming methods since you can complete Whispers on a regular cycle.

  • Nightmare Dungeon & Pit Runs - Some players have received Mythic Tributes as rewards at the end of high-level Pit and Nightmare Dungeon runs. This appears to be less common but still documented.

  • War Plan Key Rewards - There are reports suggesting that the war plan system can also award Mythic Tributes, though this source has less widespread confirmation.

  • Treasure Goblins - At least one source has confirmed that Mythic Tributes can drop from treasure goblins (sometimes called "booty holes" by the community).

  • Collection of Chaos Caches - One player reported a friend getting a Mythic Tribute from the Collection of Chaos whisper cache specifically.

  • Horadric Cube Amalgamation - You can combine five Greater Tributes of Armaments (the legendary version) using the Amalgamation craft option in the Horadric Cube to create one Mythic Tribute of Armaments. You can also pyramid up from rare versions if you have enough.

My Tribute Drop Rate - How Rare Are They?

Getting Mythic Tributes as raw drops is pretty rare, and you cannot rely on them appearing frequently. Playing at higher Torment levels makes them more likely to show up, but even dedicated farmers may go long stretches without seeing one. Some players at Paragon 213 running Torment 12 have reported never seeing a single Mythic Tribute drop, while others have stacked up several over time. The RNG varies widely from player to player.

Leveling Layer Boss Bestiary Entries Increases Drop Rates

Community reports indicate that Mythic Tribute drops increase noticeably once you max out your Layer Boss bestiary entries. This means leveling bosses like Duriel, Azmodan, and others to level 5 in the bestiary. The grind is real - Azmodan in particular is considered tedious - but multiple players have confirmed that once all entries are fully leveled, Mythic Tributes and Mythic Uniques in general start appearing much more often. As one player put it: "The mythics drop like crazy once they are maxed."

Best Farming Strategies for Mythic Tributes

Since direct drops are uncommon, you'll want to give yourself every possible advantage. There are some main methods to focus on.

1. Maximize World Boss Kills

This one is straightforward. Show up for every world boss spawn, and try to participate in as many kills as possible. If you're in a group, coordinate schedules to catch more spawns throughout the day.

2. Optimize Your Tree of Whispers War Plan

This is where your setup choices matter. To maximize your chances of receiving the Greater dungeon key cache from Whisper rewards, spend your Tree of Whispers war plan points like this:

  • Allocate your first point to the node that gives you a fourth Whisper cache choice when claiming rewards. This bumps your options from three to four.

  • Allocate your second point to the node below it, which forces your Whisper caches to either be Greater or junk quality. This eliminates the possibility of receiving a non-Greater quality dungeon key cache entirely.

  • Avoid taking the node that limits you to only one cache choice, this would drastically reduce your odds.

This combination gives you four choices at the cache screen, with every cache being either Greater quality or junk. You're removing the middle ground and giving yourself the best shot at the Greater cache, which is one of the confirmed Mythic Tribute sources.

3. Crafting Mythic Tributes Through the Horadric Cube

Here's where things get really interesting. You don't have to rely purely on luck. Much like other items, you can use the Horadric Cube's Amalgamation function to upgrade tributes through the rarity tiers.

Here's how it works:

  • Five Rare Tributes of Armaments can be amalgamated into one Legendary (Greater) Tribute of Armaments.

  • Five Greater Tributes of Armaments can be amalgamated into one Mythic Tribute of Armaments.

You can pyramid your way up from the lowest rarity versions all the way to Mythic if you collect enough of them. It has to be the Armaments tribute specifically — other tribute types like Harmony or Ingenuity won't work for this purpose.

This means that any source of dungeon keys in general can help you work toward Mythic Uniques through the cube. Save every tribute you find, even blue and rare ones, because they all feed into this upgrade path.

How To Use Mythic Tributes - The Most Optimal Way to Run Mythic Tributes of Armaments

Getting a Mythic Tribute of Armaments is only half the battle. Running it properly can mean the difference between one Mythic Unique and five or more from a single run. Here's how to set yourself up for the best possible outcome.

1. Run at Torment 10 or Higher

Starting at Torment 10, Mythic Horadric Seals drop more frequently, and the overall Mythic drop rates improve. The higher the Torment, the better your results will be. If you can handle Torment 12, run it there.

If you can't survive at Torment 10 yourself, have someone carry you. It's better to be carried through a high-Torment run than to waste your Mythic Tribute at a lower difficulty. Have the carry player enter the Undercity first, clear the content, and then call you in right before the final boss room so you can teleport in and collect rewards.

2. Set Up the Portal Prankster War Plan Skills

This is arguably the most important preparation step. In the Undercity war plan tree, go down the left side and grab the Gutter Filth node, along with the full path through Endless Swarm and Unfortunate Souls leading to the final upgrade, Trials and Tributes.

Here's how it works:

  • When you activate any beacon within the Undercity, there is a small chance to summon a Portal Prankster, essentially a loot goblin.

  • For each Portal Prankster you kill during the run, an extra tribute chest appears after defeating the district boss.

  • Each of those extra chests has an extremely high chance of containing another Mythic Unique.

This is exactly how players are getting screenshots of 5, 7, or even 10 Mythic Uniques from a single Undercity run. The more Portal Pranksters you find and kill, the more chests you receive at the end.

3. Interact With Every Beacon During the Run - Even If You Don't Need To

Portal Pranksters are rare. The game says so, and player experience confirms it. To give yourself the maximum number of chances to spawn them, interact with every single beacon during your Undercity run, even if you already have enough offering to reach the final boss.

Every beacon activation is another roll at spawning a Portal Prankster, so skipping beacons means losing potential extra chests. Always kill Portal Pranksters with heavy priority the moment they appear.

4. Getting Carried? Do It Right

If you're being carried through a Mythic Tribute run, coordinate properly:

  • Have the carrier enter the Undercity first.

  • Let them clear the run and activate every beacon along the way.

  • When they reach the boss room (but before engaging the boss), have them call you and your party in.

  • Teleport in and enjoy the rewards.

This method ensures the carrier gets maximum beacon activations while you still collect the loot.

5. Watch the Timer Carefully

Tribute runs operate on a countdown timer that typically starts at around 45 seconds. You extend it by killing time-granting enemies scattered throughout the dungeon. If the timer hits zero, the tribute fails entirely and you lose it.

Stack enough movement speed (players recommend well over 60%) and prioritize time mobs when the clock gets low. If you're running out of time, you may need to choose between chasing another beacon and heading straight for the exit portal. Losing the run entirely is far worse than missing one potential Prankster spawn.

6. Rotate Mythic Tributes in a Full Party

One of the strongest community tips: join a group of four players and rotate your Mythic Tributes. If each player contributes one tribute, the group gets four full runs, and all party members benefit from every run's rewards. This effectively multiplies the value of each Mythic Tribute by four. Join a guild and run it on a rota. You'll get 16 runs total and all the mythics you'll ever need for a season.

7. Bug Warning: Protect Your Mythic Tributes

There is a known issue where the Portal Prankster node can consume your stored tributes. When the system asks you to "offer a tribute" to activate the prankster mechanic, it can pull from your inventory, including your Mythic Tributes. Multiple players have reported losing Mythic Tribute of Ascendance and Legendary tributes this way without realizing it.

Even locking the items in your inventory may not prevent this. If you haven't yet unlocked the Prankster node, do not activate beacons during a run, you'll waste the beacon chance without getting anything in return. And if you're saving tributes for later, be very careful about what's in your bags when running other content.
