Season 16 of Diablo 4 is bringing a wave of fresh gear that promises to reshape how players build their characters. From Horadric Legendaries that interact directly with Talisman sets to new jewelry pieces capable of adding set counts, the loot pool is getting a serious upgrade. In this guide, we walk through everything we know about the new items and reworked items coming in Season 16, along with the context you need to make sense of them.
Diablo 4 Season 16 New & Reworked Items (Horadrics, Recipes, Uniques)
The 3.3.0 Public Test Realm for Diablo 4's Season 16 runs from October 27, 10:00 a.m. PDT to November 3, 10 a.m. PST, giving PC players on Battle.net a chance to try the upcoming season before launch. Season 16 itself is expected to drop around early-to-mid December, with the Battle Pass pointing toward a December 1st release. The PTR puts the spotlight on major additions to the War Plans system for both Eternal and Seasonal play, reworked Infernal Hordes, Pit, and Lair Boss activities, powerful new Horadric Items that create fresh synergies between your equipped gear and the Talisman system, and the return of the Corrupted Reaper alongside her new partner, the Fractured Reaper. Blizzard has also confirmed that some features from the Season of Hell's Legacy will carry forward into Season 16, though which ones have not yet been revealed.
With the PTR window and the broader context in mind, the real question for most players is what loot they will actually be chasing. Season 16 brings a brand new category of Legendary gear, fresh currencies, a new crafting recipe, several reworked uniques, and returning items to farm. Here is a full look at the new items coming in the 3.3 PTR and Season 16.
New Horadric Legendary Items
Introduced by the Death Cult of Ullo Sar, Horadric Items are Legendary pieces that carry a special Horadric affix on top of normal stats. These affixes modify a specific Talisman set, with varying effects depending on item type. From the preview screenshots, a single Horadric ring can roll with five base stats, which can then be transfigured and tempered for seven stats, and multi-transfigured for ten or more stats, along with an aspect slot and the new Horadric affix.
The three item type categories work as follows:
Horadric Jewelry (Rings and Amulets): Increases your set bonus count by 1 for a specific Talisman set. Unlike Seal of the Diamond Mind, you only need 1 charm equipped to enjoy the 2-piece set bonus with a corresponding Horadric jewelry item. This frees up slots for multiple set bonuses or new charm combinations, and opens the door to running two full 5-piece sets when combined with Seal of the Diamond Mind.
Horadric Armor: Adds new effects that activate when you have at least a 2-piece bonus from a defined Talisman set. Effects can include skill rank bonuses, bonus damage, and improved defensive capabilities such as cooldown reduction.
Horadric Weapons: Also add new effects tied to having at least a 2-piece Talisman set bonus active. These can roll perks like Ultimate skill cooldown reduction, Frost cooldown reduction, elemental damage multipliers, and bonus damage against specific enemy types.
New Currency Items
Season 16 introduces fresh currencies tied to the expanded War Plans system and the new Horadric content.
Marks of Wisdom: A new currency rewarded for turning in completed War Plans. Rather than spending gold, players use Marks of Wisdom to change nodes in both the War Plans Tactics tree and individual Activity trees. The PTR caps them at 20, suggesting they are meant to pace how often players can respec during a season.
Marks of El'druin: Confirmed through the PTR Boost system, which grants 3 Marks of El'druin alongside 20 Marks of Wisdom when players unlock and max War Plans. These appear tied to the Tyrael's Boons seasonal tree progression.
New Crafting Recipe: Greater Temper
A new Horadric Cube recipe called Greater Temper arrives through the Trash for Treasure path in Tyrael's Boons. It upgrades the Tempered Affix on an item to a Greater Affix for the cost of 30 Scrolls of Restoration and 1,000 Obducite. This gives players a guaranteed route to a Greater Affix tempered roll, cutting out the random clicking usually involved in landing a crit temper. Alongside this, salvaging Ancestral Items now has a chance to grant a Scroll of Restoration, giving players a more reliable supply of the materials needed for the new recipe.
New Ancestral Caches and Merchant Items
The Merchant of Mystery path in Tyrael's Boons adds a brand new NPC at Torment difficulty who sells caches for Forgotten Souls. The caches themselves are new item drops in Season 16, with several variations available:
Standard Caches: Purchased with Forgotten Souls, offering mixed loot rewards.
Ancestral Caches: Higher-quality caches with better chances for Ancestral items. Points invested into this path raise the odds of these caches appearing.
Rune Caches and Gem Caches: Alternate paths let players buy caches with Runes or Gems instead of Forgotten Souls, giving flexible options based on which materials you have stockpiled.
Reworked and Buffed Unique Items
Several existing uniques are being updated or buffed for Season 16, giving players new reasons to chase them.
Molten Band (Ring): Increases bonus against all enemies and extends the attack speed bonus from four to eight seconds after killing an enemy with a critical strike.
Flamescar (Staff): Incinerate gains one final charge. While Incinerate is at maximum intensity, it deals 100% of Incinerate's damage to surrounding enemies.
Ember Fury: Clarified wording on the increased damage and size per stack of overpower, now granting 100% damage per stack rather than 60%, with the mythic version pushing this to 130%.
Raiment of the Infinite: Now grants 25% damage reduction while standing in Blizzard and for 8 seconds after.
Habaclava's Cauldron: Overheating at maximum heat now gives 50 Mana Regeneration instead of free skill casts, while keeping the 200% increased damage and area damage bonus. This lets fire builds use Hydra Enchantment on more skills.
Moonrise Aspect: Damage increased to 80%, giving a boost to basic skill builds like Spark and Frenzy.
Thunder God's Blessing: Damage increased from 300% to 350%, feeding into Ball Lightning builds.
Limitless Rage: Reworked for Barbarian with a buffed value, feeding into frenzy and basic-skill builds.
Jasham's Shell (Spiritborn chest): Now grants damage reduction and drains Vigor instead of Life, likely bringing it back into the Spiritborn meta.
Blue Rose: Bug fixes applied so Ice Spikes now properly trigger lucky hit effects.
Vox Omnium: Still interacts with Incinerate as a basic-attack delivery system, benefiting from the Incinerate reworks.
Lingering Aspect: Bug fixed so Meteorites and Blizzard Ice Spikes no longer receive the maximum damage value permanently, bringing their damage closer to the average.
Scornful Aspect: Reworked. Pyromancy skills now deal 45% increased damage against enemies you have attempted to knock back or immobilize in the last 5 seconds.
Overheating Aspect: Reworked so fire damage now has a 15% lucky hit chance to generate a stack of overpower, no longer tied to killing burning enemies.
Tammerity: Receiving a nerf as part of the broader balance pass.
Banished Lord's Talisman: Nerfed down to 100% damage value.
Nether Step: Full rework with increased animation speed, improving mobility for Warlock builds.
Nerfed Items Worth Noting
A few items are receiving reductions in power, which is worth tracking since they affect which gear remains viable in Season 16.
Firewall Ring of Fire Variant: Damage reduced from 300% to 100%, with the cooldown dropped from 12 to 8 seconds and duration raised from 3.5 to 5 seconds.
Blazing Scream: Reduced from 130% to 115% as part of balance adjustments to the Warlock's top build.
Moloch's Beating Flame: Nerfed, hitting Warlock Hellfire builds.
Returning Items Confirmed for Season 16
Based on the Season 16 PTR patch notes containing bug fixes for them, these items are confirmed to continue into the new season.
Stone of Jordan: Bug fixes applied, confirming it continues into Season 16.
Squirt's Necklace: Also receiving bug fixes, confirming its continued presence.
Melted Heart of Selig: No nerfs announced, so this iconic Mythic stays strong.
Starless Skies: Also untouched by nerfs for Season 16.
Signet of Pelkind: Removed from Druid and Barbarian usage.
New Boss Drops from the Dual Reaper Fight
Season 16 brings back the Corrupted Reaper from the Season of Death Awakening, now joined by the new Fractured Reaper. The two bosses merge their abilities into a dual lair boss encounter, with Blizzard promising "epic" loot that must be earned. Based on Season 14's version of this fight, this is likely to be a strong source of Mythic Uniques and may also serve as a primary farming spot for Horadric Items in Season 16.
Items Available Through PTR Boosts
For players testing on the PTR, the following items can be granted through the PTR Vendor Mrak near the main Waypoint in major cities.
All Runes
Random Legendaries (requires Level 7 for Helms, Level 15 for Amulets)
All Uniques
Talisman Items
Seasonal Horadric Items
Lair Keys, Tributes, Infernal Compasses, Nightmare Escalation Sigils
All Temper Manuals and Masterworking unlocks
All Glyphs with max levels
3 Marks of El'druin and 20 Marks of Wisdom via the War Plans unlock boost
Max Tyrael's Boons progression
Season 16 is leaning hard into gear-driven power, with Horadric Items giving players the ability to run multiple Talisman set bonuses at once, potentially even stacking toward two full 5-piece sets when paired with Seal of the Diamond Mind. Combined with the Greater Temper recipe, new Ancestral Caches, buffs to several uniques, and the return of the Reaper boss fight as a dual encounter, the loot chase looks richer than it has in a while. The PTR starting October 27 will give players their first real chance to test how these items interact in practice, so expect balance adjustments before the full season drops in December.
