Diablo 4 Season 16 Tyrael's Boons Guide

Diablo IV Season 16 PTR brings a brand-new seasonal progression system called Tyrael’s Boons, giving players fresh control over loot, rewards, and in-game activities. Unlike one-off small buffs, this branching perk tree shapes nearly every part of your seasonal farming, from gambling at the Purveyor of Curiosities to crafting at the Alchemist. This guide breaks down exactly what Diablo 4 Tyrael’s Boons is, how it works, how you unlock it, and how to pick the best perks for your build and goals.

Diablo 4 Tyrael's Boons Guide

Diablo 4 Tyrael's Boons Guide

Tyrael’s Boons is a special Season 16 War Plans talent tree in Diablo 4. It lets you customize rewards and perks for War Plan tasks and almost all other gameplay activities across Sanctuary. It is important to note that Tyrael’s Boons does not replace Seasonal Blessings. Season Blessings stay as a permanent static system with the same five options each season. Together, these two systems give you a solid base of reliable bonuses plus flexible, custom buffs you choose yourself. You do not need the Lord of Hatred expansion to use Tyrael’s Boons; every seasonal player can use this feature.

How to Access Tyrael’s Boons in D4 Season 16?

You can open the Tyrael’s Boons panel from the Activities menu once Season 16 PTR is live. It appears alongside your regular War Plan interface. There is no special quest or unlock requirement to start putting points into the tree for seasonal characters.

How It Works in D4 Season 16?

Tyrael’s Boons uses a point-based branching path system. You can earn a maximum of 132 points in total, and this amount is enough to unlock up to 4 out of the 6 available final perk selections spread across four separate paths.

Points are spent to unlock connected nodes along each branch. Some nodes lead to different end rewards, so your choices lock you into one side of a path once you commit. You cannot grab every reward on a single branch.

If you change your mind on your build or farming plan, you can refund points. Refunding costs 5,000,000 D4 gold per point. Individual perks also show their own refund price, like the “Stuff of Legends” node with a 10,000 gold refund cost for that single perk.

Tyrael’s Boons Paths

The tree has four unique paths, each focused on a different farming goal.

1. Curious Addition

This path upgrades the Purveyor of Curiosities gambling system. Points here raise your chance to roll a second item when you gamble. It can unlock new item types and boost odds for higher-quality gear. One risky option on this branch makes gambling cost much more, but greatly increases your chance to roll Ancestral items. Pick this if you plan to gamble heavily for gear.

2. Merchant of Mystery

This path unlocks Master Mercer, a new merchant that only spawns in Torment difficulty. Master Mercer sells loot caches in exchange for Forgotten Souls. Investing points raises your chance to get Ancestral Caches. You can choose branches to buy caches with Runes or Gems, or increase how many caches you get and their overall quality. The “Stuff of Legends” perk on this path adds one extra Archetype Cache to Master Mercer’s shop stock.

3. Scent of Gold

This is the gold and experience focused path. It directly increases gold gain and XP from your activities. It splits into two directions: one boosts Horadric Cube materials and Gem Fragment drops, while the other improves gold and gem drops from slain monsters. This tree also includes nodes that lift your chance to find Legendary items while farming. Choose this if you want faster leveling and more raw currency.

4. Trash for Treasure

This path centers on crafting, salvaging and the Alchemist. It lowers transmute costs at the Alchemist and gives you better odds to get Forgotten Souls. It has two branches: one gives more Obducite and Scrolls of Restoration, while the second makes monsters drop extra Obducite and salvage materials. At the end of this tree, salvaging Ancestral Items has a chance to drop a Scroll of Restoration. Most notably, this path unlocks the new Horadric Cube recipe Greater Temper. This recipe upgrades a regular Tempered Affix into a Greater Affix, costing 30 Scrolls of Restoration plus 1,000 Obducite. This removes the need to repeatedly re-roll Tempered affixes hoping for a Greater result.

Tyrael’s Boons Rewards & How to Choose Your Perks

Since you can only pick up to four final perks from all paths combined, your choice should match what you spend most time doing in Season 16.

  • If you love gambling gear: Go with Curious Addition.

  • If you want to buy Ancestral caches from Master Mercer: Pick Merchant of Mystery.

  • If you need fast XP, gold and more legendary drops: Scent of Gold is your best fit.

  • If you craft, salvage, and work with Tempered affixes often: Trash for Treasure is the strongest option.

Remember you cannot take every reward. You will need to prioritize one main farming style. If your goals shift later, you can pay gold to refund points and respec your tree.

Tyrael’s Boons works alongside War Plan Tactics, another new Season 16 feature. War Plan Tactics changes what activities appear in your War Plans and their reward pools, while Tyrael’s Boons adds permanent seasonal bonuses for all your play. These two systems stack together. Refunding can get expensive if you respec many times, so try to lock in a plan before dumping large amounts of gold into frequent resets.
