PoE 3.29 Legion Farming Guide: Best Scarabs, Atlas Tree & Map Setup

Legion is one of the strongest and most straightforward farming mechanics in Path of Exile 3.29. With the right Scarabs, Atlas Passive Tree, Timeless Astrolabe, and map setup, Legion can generate huge amounts of raw currency, Scarabs, Stacked Decks, valuable gems, Emblems, and other high-value rewards.  The real strength of this strategy isn't simply that Legion drops good loot. Instead, the setup is designed to multiply Legion rewards and then repeatedly kill reward-bearing monsters. Here's how the Path of Exile 3.29 legion strategy works.

Why Farm Legion in PoE 3.29?

Legion has become extremely rewarding in the current league. The strategy described in the source reports large amounts of raw Divine Orbs, Stacked Decks, valuable Scarabs, and support gems such as Enlighten and Empower. One of the biggest changes is that Incubators were removed in Patch 3.29. Instead, Legion monsters can directly drop some of the rewards that previously came through the Incubator system. This gives players more immediate rewards for clearing Legion encounters, including additional currency and valuable gems. Legion is also mechanically simple: Activate the Legion → break monsters out of stasis → kill them. However, maximizing profit requires understanding how Legion's reward mechanics interact with Scarabs and the Atlas tree.

How the POE 3.29 Legion Farming Strategy Works

The strategy is built around four major components:

  • Legion Scarab

  • Legion Scarab of Treasures

  • Legion Scarab of Eternal Conflict

  • Timeless Astrolabe

The basic idea is: Create more Legions → create more reward-bearing monsters → distribute chest rewards to those monsters → release them multiple times → kill everything. This creates a powerful reward multiplier.

What Should You Do in Each Map?

The map itself is straightforward. First, run through the map and look for valuable Eater of Worlds altars. The priority is currency duplication, scarab duplication and quantity altars. Quantity is still useful, but duplication is particularly powerful for this strategy because Legion naturally produces large amounts of currency and Scarabs. After clearing the map and finding the best altar possible, focus on the Legion encounters. You also want to kill the Legion generals. The generals contribute additional Splinters and rewards and are important for completing the Astrolabe requirements. They can also drop valuable Enshrouding Crystals.

PoE 3.29 Legion Build Requirements

Legion is particularly rewarding for builds with strong screen-wide clearing. The important abilities are:

  • Chain

  • Fork

  • Projectiles

  • Long-range skills

  • Off-screen clearing

This is because Legion monsters are spread across a large area while they are frozen. Explosion-based mechanics can be less effective during the breakout phase because the monsters aren't initially stacked together. Once the Legion monsters are released, however, they tend to group together, making strong AoE and explosion mechanics much more effective. So, if you're choosing a build specifically for this strategy, fast screen-wide clearing is more important than simply having huge single-target DPS.

PoE 3.29 Legion Scarab Setup

The recommended Scarab setup is:

ScarabQuantityPurpose
Legion Scarab1Adds an additional Legion
Legion Scarab of Treasures3Spreads chest rewards to monsters
Legion Scarab of Eternal Conflict1Allows monsters to be released repeatedly

This combination creates three Legions per map when combined with the Legion provided by the Atlas Passive Tree and the Timeless Astrolabe. The Legion Scarab of Treasures is especially important. With three of them, the source describes a 60% chance for Legion chest rewards to be spread across monsters in the chest's radius. This means a single valuable chest can turn into many reward-bearing monsters. For example, a Legion chest containing currency can distribute that reward across numerous monsters. The same principle can apply to Stacked Decks, Scarabs, Uniques, and other valuable rewards.

POE1 3.29 Legion Scarab of Eternal Conflict

The most important high-investment Scarab in the setup is the Legion Scarab of Eternal Conflict. This Scarab allows Legion monsters to be released from stasis multiple times. That means instead of

Release → Kill → Done. You can effectively create Release → Kill → Release Again → Kill Again

The monsters become tougher, but they provide additional rewards. This is the central reason the strategy can generate such large amounts of currency. The source describes Eternal Conflict as the component that really holds the strategy together when combined with Treasures Scarabs.

What about Officer Scarabs?

The strategy also tested Officer Scarabs but found that they weren't competitive with Eternal Conflict for this particular setup. They can provide reasonable value at low cost, but they don't produce the same level of returns as the full Eternal Conflict strategy.  So if you're investing heavily into Legion, the recommendation is simple: Use Eternal Conflict rather than trying to replace it with cheaper Scarabs.

POE 3.29 Timeless Astrolabe Setup

The strategy uses a Timeless Astrolabe. This provides another Legion and guarantees that generals appear on each side of the Legion. This adds:

-More Splinters

-More rewards

-Enshrouding Crystals

-Additional Legion value

-Potentially valuable Astrolabe implicits

The source considers the Timeless Astrolabe essentially mandatory for the optimized version of the strategy.  One important recommendation is to stick to the same map rather than constantly changing maps based on Astrolabe bonuses.

POE 3.29 Best Maps for Legion Farming

1. Dunes

Dunes is the main recommendation. Its open layout makes it particularly suitable for Legion because you need plenty of space to spread out and release large numbers of monsters. The source repeatedly recommends Dunes as the primary map.

2. Jungle Valley

Jungle Valley is the main alternative. It can also work well with the strategy, but Dunes is the preferred choice in the source.

What Map Tier Should You Run?

The recommended setup is T16 8-Mod Maps. The source specifically recommends running regular eight-mod T16 maps. Eight-mod maps provide valuable:

-Pack Size

-Quantity

-General map scaling

However, the strategy doesn't require Delirium. The source tested Delirious maps and found that the majority of Legion's value comes from the Legion reward system itself, particularly the interaction between Treasures and Eternal Conflict. Therefore, T16 8-Mod Dunes is the default setup. Delirious 8-Mod T16 maps can be used as a higher-investment option, but they aren't required.

POE 3.29 Legion Atlas Passive Tree

The Atlas tree focuses heavily on Legion, Scarabs, and map scaling. The strategy takes most of the important Legion nodes but doesn't invest heavily into Legion General nodes because the Timeless Astrolabe already guarantees the generals.

Legion Duration and Sergeants

The tree takes nodes that provide more sergeants, more chances for Sergeants to have rewards, increased Legion duration and increased damage taken by monsters in stasis. These are particularly important when using Eternal Conflict. The longer you have to break monsters out, the more monsters you can release before the encounter ends.

Emblematic

The strategy also takes Emblematic to increase the chance of obtaining full Emblems rather than only Splinters. The preferred armies are Maraketh and Templar. The source considers these significantly more valuable than Karui, Vaal, and Eternal Empire for this setup. Players can alternatively focus more heavily on Maraketh alone, but the source chooses both Maraketh and Templar because both can provide good value.

Pillage Treasures + Logistical Support

Two Legion nodes are particularly important for this farming strategy.

Pillage Treasures

This gives Legion chests an additional random reward. That becomes extremely powerful when combined with Treasures Scarabs because those extra chest rewards can subsequently be distributed to monsters.

Logistical Support

This provides additional reward opportunities for monsters that already have rewards. Together, these nodes fit perfectly into the strategy's reward multiplication system.  The interaction can be summarized as:

More chest rewards

Treasures Scarabs spread rewards to monsters

Logistical Support increases reward opportunities

Eternal Conflict lets you release monsters repeatedly

More kills and more loot

POE 3.29 Scarab and Map Scaling

The Atlas tree also invests in Scarab nodes. However, there's a tradeoff between maximizing Scarabs and investing heavily into Eater of Worlds pack-size mechanics. The source suggests that a high-end player could potentially sacrifice some Eater pack-size investment for additional Scarab nodes and experiment with more heavily juiced maps. For a straightforward setup, however, the existing balance of Legion + Scarabs + Eater pack size is sufficient.

Why This Legion Strategy Is So Profitable in Path of Exile 3.29

The biggest mistake would be thinking that the strategy is simply run Legion and kill monsters. The real strategy is create rewards → distribute rewards → multiply monster kills → duplicate valuable loot. That's why all the pieces fit together. Pillage Treasures creates additional chest rewards. Legion Scarab of Treasures spreads those rewards to monsters. Eternal Conflict allows those monsters to be released multiple times.

Timeless Astrolabe adds another Legion and guarantees generals. Eater altars can duplicate the resulting currency and Scarabs. And finally, 8-Mod Dunes provides the open layout and strong pack density needed to execute the strategy efficiently. The source reports that the strategy was immediately impressive for its amount of Stacked Decks, raw Divines, and other currency, while remaining relatively simple to execute.
