PoE 3.28 Build Tier List - Best League Starters for Path of Exile Mirage

PoE Guide March 05, 2026

The Mirage League in Path of Exile 3.28 introduces a massive endgame shift. With the removal of the old T17 Fortress-focused meta, most players will now spend the majority of their progression farming T16 maps, creating a much more balanced environment for league starters. Read this PoE 3.28 build tier list, we have ranked the best league starters for Mirage League.

PoE 3.28 Best Build - Path of Exile Mirage Tier List & Ranking

The Mirage mechanic itself also changes how builds perform. Instead of adding a new encounter, Mirage duplicates the content already inside your map. That means if your map contains a Legion, Breach, or Expedition, Mirage can effectively double it.

Because of this, clear speed, area damage, and consistency matter more than ever.

Below is a ranked tier list of the best league starters for Path of Exile 3.28 Mirage, based on three factors:

  • Early damage potential (around 5M+ DPS on a budget)

  • League mechanic synergy

  • Overall mapping comfort

S Tier

Kinetic Fusillade Totems (Hierophant / Champion)

Kinetic Fusillade Totems are shaping up to be the most well-rounded starter in Mirage League. Totem builds have always been reliable league starters, but Kinetic Fusillade improves the playstyle significantly. With the recent change where totem placement speed scales emergence speed, totems deploy faster and begin attacking almost instantly. The result is a smoother mapping experience compared to older ballista builds like Explosive Arrow.

Strengths

  • Easy to scale with cheap rares

  • Strong early DPS (10–20M with moderate investment)

  • Safe playstyle with totems tanking for you

  • Great for general mapping strategies

Weaknesses

  • Not the tankiest build

  • Totem gameplay isn’t for everyone

Best Mirage Mechanics

  • Expedition

  • General mapping strategies

This is one of the best builds for players who want a smooth four-voidstone progression without complicated gearing.

Bow & Kinetic Blast Deadeye

Bow builds like Lightning Arrow, Elemental Hit Bow, or Kinetic Blast Deadeye remain some of the strongest map-clearing league starters in the game. Deadeye builds dominate content where clear speed is everything, and Mirage League encourages exactly that. Legion, Breach, and other dense encounters become extremely profitable when duplicated by Mirage, and no build clears them faster than Deadeye.

Strengths

  • Insane screen-wide clear speed

  • Excellent Legion and Breach farming

  • Fastest mapping builds in the game

Weaknesses

  • Low survivability

  • Weak boss damage early

Best Mirage Mechanics

  • Legion

  • Breach

If your goal is early currency farming and speed mapping, Deadeye remains the gold standard.

A Tier

Elemental Hit Melee Slayer

Strike skills have struggled in recent leagues, but Elemental Hit Slayer remains one of the few melee builds that performs well at league start. The Slayer ascendancy provides some of the strongest early defensive tools, including:

  • Overleech for constant life recovery

  • Endurance charges

  • Fortify scaling

This combination gives the build excellent survivability compared to most starters.

Strengths

  • Strong sustain through overleech

  • Good single target damage

  • Reliable progression build

Weaknesses

  • Strike skills feel clunky

  • Clear speed is average

With additional investment, players can transition into Smite or Lightning Strike variants for higher damage.

Poison Concoction Pathfinder

Poison Concoction Pathfinder continues to be a safe and efficient starter, especially for players planning to transition into Poison Mamba builds later. The build scales damage through poison stacking and offers good mapping thanks to poison proliferation mechanics. Recent balance adjustments suggest poison builds are still viable despite previous nerfs.

Strengths

  • No weapon required

  • Smooth leveling

  • Strong poison scaling

Weaknesses

  • Damage ramps up slowly

  • Requires specific gear to reach high DPS

Best Mirage Mechanics

  • Expedition

  • Delirium-style dense mapping

Poison Concoction remains one of the most comfortable starter builds for Pathfinder players.

Archmage Hierophant

Archmage builds are famous for producing massive damage numbers with minimal investment, but they come with a trade-off: clunky gameplay. The build revolves around stacking huge mana pools and converting that mana into damage through Archmage scaling. With the right gear, the build can reach:

  • 10k+ mana

  • 10–12M DPS

  • strong defensive layers through mana

However, much of the build's power depends on Arcane Cloak uptime, which can make gameplay feel awkward.

Strengths

  • Extremely high damage potential

  • Very strong defensive scaling

  • Cheap early gearing

Weaknesses

  • Clunky skill rotation

  • Mapping speed is mediocre

Archmage is best suited for players who enjoy bossing or scaling builds into late game powerhouses.

B+ Tier

Bleed Slams Slayer

Slam builds used to dominate the league start meta, but after several nerfs they now sit comfortably in high B tier. However, bleed variants received a new boost through the Bloodline modifier granting Cruelty support to weapon skills, significantly increasing bleed damage. Warcries also remain extremely powerful, allowing slam builds to scale damage quickly.

Strengths

  • Huge single-hit damage

  • Strong scaling with warcries

  • Good SSF potential

Weaknesses

  • Slower mapping

  • Requires weapon upgrades

Despite the nerfs, slam builds are still excellent for players who enjoy heavy hitting melee gameplay.

Kinetic Blast of Clustering Necromancer

This build gained popularity after being showcased by top players like Jungroan.

Kinetic Blast of Clustering Necromancer offers a unique combination of speed, defense, and strong clear. By using Bone Offering and block scaling, the build can reach high survivability while maintaining fast clear speed. However, recent nerfs and reliance on certain unique items mean it may require more currency investment than other starters.

Strengths

  • High block chance

  • Excellent map clear

  • Good scaling potential

Weaknesses

  • Expensive power spikes

  • Requires specific uniques

Still, it remains one of the most exciting hybrid caster builds available in Mirage League.

B Tier League Starter

Bleed Retaliate Gladiator

For players looking for a safe and beginner-friendly build, Bleed Retaliate Gladiator remains a solid option. The Gladiator ascendancy provides incredible defensive layers through:

  • Block

  • Damage avoidance

  • Bleed explosions

While the build requires more investment to reach high DPS numbers, it offers one of the tankiest league start experiences.

Strengths

  • Extremely durable

  • Satisfying bleed explosions

  • Beginner friendly

Weaknesses

  • Slower early damage scaling

  • Requires gear upgrades later

This build is ideal for players who prioritize survivability over speed.
