Season 16 brings one of the biggest shake-ups the Warlock class has ever seen. With the 3.3 PTR already live and running from October 27th through November 3rd, players are testing fresh build archetypes, chasing new fragment interactions, and figuring out which skills still carry Pit 150 clears after a wave of nerfs. This Diablo 4 Season 16 Warlock build tier list ranks every viable Warlock build for leveling and endgame, grades them across play styles, and lays out what to pick based on your goals.

Diablo 4 Season 16 Best Warlock Build Tier List (3.3 PTR)
Warlock entered Season 15 as the undisputed king of Diablo 4, with Blazing Scream speedrunning Pit 150 in under a minute and Apocalypse hitting millions of trillions of damage. Season 16 reels that ceiling in while opening doors for new play styles that were previously stuck on the sidelines.
The 3.3 PTR confirms three big shifts for the class. First, the Black Soulstone splinter is gone, which strips roughly 10x damage from every Warlock build. Second, the Horadric Ancestral jewelry system lets Warlocks run two separate five-piece set bonuses at the same time by using Diamond Mine plus legendary rings. Third, Abyss skills receive a massive wave of buffs through the Overmind paragon node, buffed fragments, and faster Nether Step animations.
The net result is a class that trades raw single-build dominance for a much deeper roster of viable options. Blazing Scream is still strong but no longer the only answer. Abyssal Titan Rampage, Auto Dread Claw, Command Lish, Umbral Chains, and even Fiend of Abaddon are all legitimate Pit pushers now.
Before jumping into the rankings, here is a quick look at the actual changes coming to the class.
Changes to Warlock in Season 16
The patch notes contain dozens of adjustments. The ones below are the ones that will actually shape your builds.
Buffs✅
Nether Step gets faster animation speed and a new variant that grants Shadow Form stacks, fixing one of the biggest clunk points for the class.
Abyssal Titan Rampage base attack damage now matches its smash damage, so you can summon the Titan, let him auto-smash, and move on without constantly recasting.
Overmind paragon node jumps from 45% to 120% abyss damage, with an extra 100% versus elites and dominance generation on elite hits. This solves the dominance bottleneck.
Subjugation Fragment goes from 1.75x to 2.5x damage per point of dominance.
Dominion Tortured Wretch paragon node doubles in value.
Rampage scaling jumps from 192 to 288 on key multipliers.
Fiend of Abaddon receives huge buffs to the Abyssal version.
Hell Fracture is roughly 71% stronger on paper, roughly two Pit tiers of raw damage.
Command Lish finally plays smoothly thanks to Nether Step teleporting her with you, Rictus of Terror granting a free fragment slot, and the dominance damage fragment now scaling with her.
Litany of Sable now fires a full Dread Claw per Shadow Form stack generated in a single instance, which enables an entire new auto-trigger archetype.
Scourge of Dural adds the Greater Demonology tag to Umbral Chains, creating a brand new build.
Fckoned Seal adds the Occult tag to Sigil of Summons minions.
Hellbrand Sign now boosts occult skill damage inside sigils.
Abyssal Fragment rework grants flat double damage against Hex targets while Command Voloc is active, roughly a 4x multiplier when stacked with Hemat Stone.
Twisted Fragment now scales occult Hellfire skills with your Hex additive damage bonus.
Night Terror stays active much more easily since multiple sources now hold stealth with Shadow Form stacks.
Footfalls of the Waning World can interrupt during the immunity phase of Nether Step.
Nerfs❌
Black Soulstone splinter is removed. This alone cuts about 10x damage from every build.
Blazing Scream loses base damage, and the Elegy unique only grants full mini-skull damage when running the two channeled variants (including Orbital). The spam Skull-splitter version is dead.
Infernal Homunculus loses roughly 10% damage.
Moloch's Beating Flame amulet drops by 50%, which drags down every Hellfire build.
Apocalypse Annihilation variant takes about four times longer to stack and loses half its damage per stack, around a quarter of its previous output.
Hand of the Worldbreaker receives a direct cut for Apocalypse builds.
Metamorphosis damage bonus only applies to Greater Demon skills, and its life-based scaling is reduced.
Inferno Fragment loses 5% damage.
Vanguard / Righteous Fire Aura receives a small cut.
Dynamism and Demonic Spicules paragon nodes receive minor nerfs.
Temerity uptime cut in half (8 seconds down to 4 seconds).
Banished Lord's Talisman receives a defensive nerf.
With the context out of the way, the next question is the one everyone is actually asking.
Is Warlock the Winner in Diablo 4 Season 16?
YES✅ Even after losing Black Soulstone, Blazing Scream dominance, and Apocalypse one-shots, Warlock is still arguably the strongest class heading into Season 16. Here is why:
Multiple builds are already clearing Pit 140 in a few minutes on the PTR without full itemization. Dread Claw, Rampage, and Blazing Scream Orbital are all putting up S-tier numbers.
The Horadric Ancestral system favors Warlock more than most classes because of how many generic and demonology sets fit the kit. Rite of Nameless, Harasha's Shadow, Abdon's Flesh, and Fulcrum of Memphis all slot in cleanly.
Abyss skills receive a huge resurgence through Overmind, buffed fragments, and faster Nether Step. The class now has at least six serious Pit-pushing archetypes instead of two.
Warlock loses damage on paper, but the class still hits for trillions in testing. Blazing Scream still runs Pit 137 to 143 after every nerf is applied.
The new Litany of Sable interaction creates an auto-trigger Dread Claw play style that is both tanky and mobile, which few other classes can match.
Warlock trades ceiling for depth this season. That is a healthier spot for the class, and it still sits alongside Rogue and Paladin at the top of the Season 16 tier list.
Diablo 4 Season 16 New Best Warlock Builds for Leveling & Endgame
Here is the full ranking of viable Warlock builds for Season 16, with ratings out of 10 across leveling, speedrunning, Torment general play, Pit pushing, and overall endgame.
1. Auto Dread Claw (The New King)
An auto-trigger abyss build that is already clearing Pit 140 in a few minutes on the PTR. Thanks to the Litany of Sable rework, every Nether Step, every Metamorphosis cast, and every Lalish proc fires off a full Dread Claw. The build becomes a one-button perma-evade machine that automatically produces 20-plus claws per second while you hold down your evade key.
Core setup: Litany of Sable, Night Terror amulet, Footfalls of the Waning World, Fists of Fate, Rictus of Terror (for the free fragment slot and nine max Shadow Form stacks), five-piece Harasha's Shadow plus five-piece Rite of Nameless via Diamond Mine, Hellfire Torch, Dominance seal.
Paragon: Abyssal starter, Dynamism with Superiority or Unbound, Mastermind, Domination, Demonic Spicules, Elder's Insight with Overmind. Aim for roughly 60% to 70% cooldown reduction to perma-evade.
Play style: Hold evade, cast Metamorphosis occasionally, use Molten Bomb or Sigil of Summons for extra Shadow Form stacks on 150 pushes. Hits up to 50 trillion damage per claw without heavy sanctification.
Leveling: 7/10
Speedrunning: 9.5/10
Torment: 10/10
The Pit: 9.5/10
Endgame: 9.5/10
2. Abyssal Titan Rampage Warlock (S Tier)
The flagship visual build of Season 16. You summon a giant demon that follows you around, auto-smashes everything, and travels with you via Nether Step. The base attack damage now equals the smash damage, so you can set him and forget him instead of constantly recasting. Already clears Pit 110 to 120 on draft setups without the full buffs applied.
Core items: Lurid Pact ring (4x Rampage damage, 50% size), Night Terror amulet (15x abyss multiplier, double damage in Shadow Form), Phasmaless Dark ring, Infernal Homunculus, Hand of Hypothesis or Fists of Fate, Temerity.
Key setup: Mastermind shard with Subjugation Fragment, double five-piece sets, Metamorphosis for Shadow Form stacks, Dark Prison for aura weaken and fortify. The build double-dips dominance scaling through the Dynamism board plus the buffed Subjugation Fragment.
Leveling: 7/10
Speedrunning: 9/10
Torment: 9.5/10
The Pit: 9/10
Endgame: 9.5/10
3. Blazing Scream Orbital Warlock (S Tier)
Blazing Scream loses a lot on paper but is still clearing Pit 140 in roughly three minutes on the PTR. The spam Skull-splitter version is dead because Elegy no longer grants full damage to mini skulls outside the channeled variants. The Orbital version becomes the new meta since it keeps full damage and plays much smoother.
Why it still meta: The two five-piece bonuses, Overmind abyss scaling, and better fragments recoup most of the raw damage lost from Black Soulstone. On live, the raw numbers were in the millions of trillions. Even divided by 1,000 they still clear Pit 150.
Leveling: 8/10
Speedrunning: 9/10
Torment: 9/10
The Pit: 8.5/10
Endgame: 9/10
4. Command Lish Warlock (A Tier)
Finally a real build. Rictus of Terror grants a free fragment slot and major damage scaling, Nether Step teleports Lish to your location, and the dominance damage fragment now works with her. Lish lasts longer this season and can consume your entire dominance bubble for a big DPS buff.
Leveling: 6/10
Speedrunning: 7/10
Torment: 8/10
The Pit: 8/10
Endgame: 8.5/10
5. Umbral Chains Demonology Warlock (A Tier)
Scourge of Dural adds the Greater Demonology tag to Umbral Chains, which turns a pure utility pull into a scaling damage dealer. Completely fresh theory craft territory with a very high ceiling thanks to all the demonology scaling the Warlock has access to.
Leveling: 7/10
Speedrunning: 8/10
Torment: 8/10
The Pit: 7.5/10
Endgame: 8/10
6. Hell Fracture Abyssal Warlock (A Tier)
Roughly two Pit tiers stronger on paper. The A variant should finally work in the Hellfire version since fissures now damage the main target. Both the abyss version and the Hellfire version are legitimate build directions this season.
Leveling: 7/10
Speedrunning: 7.5/10
Torment: 8/10
The Pit: 8/10
Endgame: 8/10
7. Apocalypse Pixel Bomber Warlock (B Tier)
The Annihilation variant drops to roughly 25% of its previous output and is basically dead. The Pixel Bomber abyssal version loses one of its damage dips but still hits for hundreds of trillions. Hand of the Worldbreaker also receives a direct nerf. The build drops from first place on live down to a solid B-tier push option.
Leveling: 6/10
Speedrunning: 7/10
Torment: 7.5/10
The Pit: 7/10
Endgame: 7.5/10
8. Tyrant's Grasp Profane Sentinel Warlock (B Tier)
Still strong for single-target and tempo play. With Overmind now solving dominance generation through elite abyss hits, the dominance bottleneck for Profane Sentinel is gone. The stealth-targeting interaction with Tyrant's Grasp keeps extra blasts firing on non-elite stealth enemies.
Leveling: 7/10
Speedrunning: 7.5/10
Torment: 7.5/10
The Pit: 7/10
Endgame: 7.5/10
9. Occult Sigil of Summons Succubi Warlock (B Tier)
A sleeper pick. Fckoned Seal adds the Occult tag to Sigil of Summons minions, which turns a passive sigil into an abyss occult damage source. Pair with Hellbrand Sign for inside-sigil occult damage scaling. Needs more theory craft to find the ceiling.
Leveling: 6/10
Speedrunning: 6.5/10
Torment: 7/10
The Pit: 6.5/10
Endgame: 7/10
10. Fiend of Abaddon Abyssal Warlock (B Tier)
Receives huge buffs to the Abyssal version and benefits from every abyss scaling change this season. A recast skill with strong AoE potential. Pairs well with the Rampage items for a hybrid demon-summoning play style.
Leveling: 6/10
Speedrunning: 7/10
Torment: 7/10
The Pit: 6.5/10
Endgame: 7/10
11. Doom Build-Around Warlock (B Tier)
Doom as a build-around is a lot better this season thanks to abyss scaling and auto-fire interactions. Mostly a supplemental damage layer right now, but worth watching as the PTR matures.
Leveling: 5.5/10
Speedrunning: 6.5/10
Torment: 7/10
The Pit: 6.5/10
Endgame: 7/10
Season 16 is the first time in a long while that Warlock players have a genuine choice between competitive builds instead of defaulting to Blazing Scream. Auto Dread Claw is the biggest winner of the patch, with a one-button perma-evade play style that is already clearing Pit 140 without heavy gearing. Abyssal Titan Rampage brings back a build that was shelved since launch, Command Lish is finally viable, and Blazing Scream Orbital keeps the Hellfire branch alive even after heavy nerfs.
The PTR runs until November 3rd, which means a lot of these numbers will shift before the live season launches. Even accounting for post-PTR tuning, Warlock is set up to remain one of the strongest classes in Season 16, with more variety and more fun play styles than ever before. Pick an archetype that fits how you want to play, draft your double five-piece set combo, and get ready for a very different top of the meta.
