ACNH 3.0.2 Update 25th Anniversary Items & How To Get

Nobody expected new content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in 2026, yet here we are. Nintendo surprised the entire ACNH community with a brand new update that adds a free commemorative item, a custom design, and a long list of bug fixes, all in celebration of the Animal Crossing franchise turning 25 years old. If you haven't logged in for a while, now is the perfect time to boot up your island and claim what's waiting in your mailbox.

ACNH 3.0.2 Update - 25th Anniversary Items & How To Get Each One

Released on April 14, 2026, exactly 25 years after the original Animal Crossing launched on the Nintendo 64 in Japan, version 3.0.2 brings the first piece of new content to New Horizons since the major 3.0 update. Alongside a commemorative leaf statue item and a special custom design, the patch also addresses several gameplay bugs affecting both the base game and the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Here we're going to break down everything today, from the new item available, how to redeem it, all of the patch notes and bug fixes that this adds to the game, and just enjoy it.

Letter from Nintendo

One particularly nice detail is that this anniversary letter has been permanently added to the stationery collection at the Dodo Airlines airport. You can use it to send mail to your friends or your villagers anytime you want. It does not appear to be a limited-time item, so there is no rush,  though you will still need to download the update first.

25th Anniversary Leaf Statue

The centerpiece of this update is a brand new furniture item called the Leaf Statue. It features the iconic Animal Crossing leaf symbol and even glows, functioning as a light source you can toggle on and off. The statue cannot be customized and only comes in a single green variant, but it is a fitting tribute to one of gaming's most recognizable franchise symbols.

How To Get the Leaf Statue

Getting your hands on the Leaf Statue is straightforward. After downloading version 3.0.2, simply load up your island and check your mailbox. You will find a special letter from Nintendo that reads:

"Dear friends, it's been 25 years since April 14th, 2001. It was said, 'Better than one is two. Better than two is four, and better than four is many.' And there are so many of you now. Thank you. Enjoy your islands your way. Sincerely, Nintendo."

The letter arrives on KK Slider stationery and features artwork inspired by the original N64 box art. Attached to it is a gift, open it, and the Leaf Statue will be placed directly into your pockets. From there, you can display it anywhere on your island or inside your home.

25th Anniversary Custom Design

And if this wasn't enough for you, on top of the Leaf Statue, Nintendo has also released a special 25th anniversary custom design through the Custom Design Portal. This design recreates the box art from the original Doubutsu no Mori (the Japanese title for Animal Crossing on the N64) as a wearable or displayable pattern.

How To Get the Anniversary Custom Design

To claim it, head to the Custom Design Portal at the Able Sisters shop or use the kiosk at your Nook Phone. Search for the design using the official creator code shared by Nintendo's island, and save it to one of your custom design slots. You can then hang it on a wall, display it on an easel, or even wear it as clothing. It is a charming throwback that feels very much in the spirit of how bonus items were distributed in older Animal Crossing titles.

More Content Updates & Bug Fixes in the ACNH 3.0.2 Update

So, that's basically all of the content that the anniversary update brings to New   Horizons, but we do have a few extras to talk about, plus a bunch of bug fixes, which I'll get to shortly.

New Anniversary Artwork From Nintendo

As part of the broader 25th anniversary celebration, Nintendo published a brand new piece of commemorative artwork. The illustration features a whimsical scene with classic characters, including Tortimer and a Gyroid, alongside the new Leaf Statue item. It continues a long tradition of Nintendo releasing special Animal Crossing art for milestones, holidays, and seasonal events over the past several years.

Animal Crossing Music Added to the Nintendo Music App

Over 150 tracks from the Nintendo GameCube version of Animal Crossing, which also includes many songs originally from the N64 release, have been added to the Nintendo Music app. That amounts to more than 5 hours of listening content. Some of these tracks come from region-exclusive versions of the game, so even longtime fans may hear music they have never encountered before. The full collection is available to stream right now for anyone with access to the app.

Full List of Bug Fixes in Version 3.0.2

Beyond the anniversary content, this patch resolves a number of gameplay issues that have lingered since previous updates.

Hotel Guest Room Exit Bug

An issue in hotel guest rooms where furniture placement or guest behavior could prevent the player from exiting the room has been fixed. This was a notable problem that could essentially trap players and block progression.

DIY Crafting Material Glitch

A bug where crafting multiple items at once using a DIY recipe that required six types of materials could sometimes complete even without sufficient materials has been corrected. Going forward, the game will properly check your inventory before finishing a craft.

Dung Beetle Visual Glitch

A dung beetle appearing on a snowball could remain visible on screen after the snowball disappeared. This has been patched so the beetle now behaves correctly once the snowball is gone.

Rock-Hitting Item Timing Issue

Items could pop out of a rock before the shovel actually made contact. This bug was originally addressed in version 3.0.1 but could still occur under certain conditions. It has now been fixed again.

Custom Design Display Bug

Bringing player-created custom designs to a Dream Island could prevent those designs from being displayed at the Able Sisters shop or uploaded to the Custom Design Portal. This has been resolved.

Glowing Spot Visibility From the Plane

Glowing spots on the island would not appear lit when viewing the island from the plane while returning from another island. This visual issue has been corrected.

Villager Placement Inside Homes

Villagers who had promised to visit the player's home could sometimes appear in unnatural locations inside the house — such as clipping through or standing on top of furniture. This behavior has been fixed.

General Improvements

Additional minor adjustments and data corrections have been made to improve overall gameplay stability and performance.

Happy Home Paradise DLC Fix

One fix specifically targets the paid DLC, Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise. An issue where animals requesting vacation homes would stop appearing on the beach, even when some animals still did not have vacation homes, has been resolved. If you thought you had completed every vacation home request but noticed no new visitors showing up, it may be worth revisiting the archipelago after updating to see if anyone new is waiting for you.

How To Download the ACNH 3.0.2 Update

If your game has not updated automatically, you can manually trigger the download. Go to the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 home screen, hover over Animal Crossing: New Horizons, press the + button, and select Software Update. The patch will download and install, giving you immediate access to the Leaf Statue, the new stationery, and all of the bug fixes listed above.
